I saw it at home when the dvd came out, if I had seen it in the cinema I would have probably walked out after half an hour. It's absolutely dire and I'd score it 1/10 and even that is a bit generous.

Don't know how close the film is to book, but the book isn't very good either. Welsh is living on past exploits has been for over 15 years, to be fair to him you can't blame him for milking it, it's gave him a very good life!

Thanks for that. Had it on my 2 C list. I'll give it a miss.

Cheers, feel less guilty in not bothering now.

Absolute garbage. 1/10 is too generous.

If you haven`t seen it, don`t bother; hugely disappointing.

I remember the original getting great write ups Trilby.
Had some funny moments but in general I couldn't see why people rated it so highly. Mediocre at best. |

I really enjoyed it and find it hard to believe any fan of Trainspotting wouldn't enjoy it. It's main 'crime' was that it wasn't anything like as good as Trainspotting, but then it was unlikely that it was ever going to be as good as the brilliant first one, like if they ever released Pulp Fiction 2 it's highly unlikely it would be as good as the first one. In fact the only example I can think of a sequel ever being as good as a brilliant first film would be Godfather 2, although I'm sure there must be more.
The reason, imo, it wasn't as good as the first was the music whilst excellent, wasn't as good as the first one, it was much slower moving than the lightning paced Trainspotting and it wasn't quite as funny with a lot of the way it was shot being original/new in Trainspotting but the second time becomes a hommage to the superior first film instead. Anyway, I enjoyed it and it gets a solid 8/10 with the thumb for me! |

I'm a fan of Irvine Welsh and have read nearly all his books.
Someone told me when Trainspotting was showing on TV so I took the trouble to watch it. I thought it was a pale imitation of the book (understandable when condensing a 12 hour read into an hour and half film) and had someone else's bias on the story (the producer). Having read the other two "Trainspotting" books, presumable this is a film version of "Porno", I don't think I want to watch what might spoil my memory of the book. If you can't make the effort to read a whole book, then by all means watch the film. |

Tho Original was Brilliant by the way.

first film was spectaculr, totally unaware of how brilliant it was going to be. the sequel was the complete opposite. they should have left the whole thing alone. totally unmemorable cr^p.

Thanks, I definitely won't be watching it. It's a shame as it won't be a good advertisement for the book. The film version of "Filth" wasn't up to much either.

i liked it

I reckon having read Porno that there was enough intentionally left out of the film to allow for a Trainspotting 3! That should please everyone.

It went in the same bin as Avatar, read the reviews etc but was lied too.
Like others have mentioned, Filth was a superb read but the film tried but failed but you cant blame them as it wasnt ever a film. Read most of IW books but have not read trainspotting. |

Recorded it then read what some on here said about it so deleted it. Then saw it was on again so recorded it, thought I'd give it a go and make my own mind up...............I've seen worse, in fact I'd say it was reasonable

I liked it - I even thought the end of the film was better than the end of the book (Porno) even though the book was obviously better over all.
I didnt think it let down the original masterpiece at all |
