New series starts at the usual time & place tonight with Alexander Armstrong taking the chair.  Roisin Conaty (whoever the feck she is - one of Mrs Brown's boys?) and James O'Brien guest.  I've never really checked this O'Brien character out - apart from his snidey remarks on LBC & Armstrong ain't too bad - though not a patch on Deaton.

Whatever happen to Deaton?  Does he still get gigs on the box?

BTW, WAKE UP SPOTTY!  No QT Fred last night?  Tsk tsk.

One of my favourite shows post my teenage years, always made an effort to watch it. It made me laugh in the early 90's.

Watched it on and off since then but the current format is all about kicking anyone who is not left, you sort of think this show has had its time but now it fits a criteria

Maybe when it stared in 1990 i didnt understand politics and it was always that way.
Report The Leopard October 6, 2017 9:12 PM BST
Maybe you've got old and reactionary ?

O'Brien, a leftie so stupid he doesn't realise that showing his huge anti Tory bias on a comedy show might affect his career as a supposdedly unbiased journalist on Newsnight. Does he still come on that? I don't watch it anymore, that total d**k being one of the reasons its not watchable.
Report Ibrahima Sonko October 6, 2017 9:20 PM BST
Less of the old, i think it was really funny in the early 90's (maybe my non political opinion), never interested in politics until brexit, im still not interested in politics as the bbc decide the political news of today.
Report The Leopard October 6, 2017 9:20 PM BST
He doesn't have to be unbiased on LBC.....it's not the BBC !
Report Just Checking October 6, 2017 9:20 PM BST
Sonko I used to like it, but lets face it all these shows now feel it's fine to be a one sided shower of left wing luvvies.
Strange new series started a week after the Labour conference .. so they don't have to sit and try and find anything they could bring themseleves to say that was negative to about Corbyn?!

A once great show, now absolute drivel. At least half of every show devoted to lefty propaganda.
Report trilby22 October 6, 2017 9:26 PM BST
Nah, can't watch this crap.  It used to be brilliant back in the 90's.

I'm out.
Report Ibrahima Sonko October 6, 2017 9:27 PM BST
I still swear that when i watched it in the early 90's it wasn't political, i was probably naive. Today the crowd boo at anyone right of centre.

Occasionally on the tv trilby but think he mainly writes nowadays.
Report trilby22 October 6, 2017 9:38 PM BST
He made the show what it was, imo.
Report Torquemada October 6, 2017 9:38 PM BST
He looked dreadful on that pudding programme.
Report Just Checking October 6, 2017 9:38 PM BST
Well as I've said  there is only AFAIK one stand up comedian who outed himself as being right of centre.
He used to regularly appear on the TV, hasn't been on since.
Whether its HIGNFY, 8 out of 10, the last leg, etc etc it's just wall to wall lefties rejoicing in a common hatred of anyone not left of centre.

Ahh the leg will be on later if nobody has had their fill of totally predictable "jokes" about the tories and replaying the same clips we just saw.

I mean what was that about Boris not standing up? THat's rubbish. He stood up fairly quickly, before anyone to the other side of him had. What's the problem?
He didn't sit in the huff, it's a non story.

Right-wing chit-chatters seething that a topical news quiz covered the biggest story in the news this week: TMay's speech.
Report Foinavon October 7, 2017 11:18 AM BST
T May is to the left of Tony Blair.
Haven't watched HIGNIFY for ages, I must check and see how bad it's become.
Report Foinavon October 7, 2017 12:24 PM BST
Just watched it on playback.
Nearly half the programme was lame attempts at jokes about May's coughing and a letter falling off the set and the rest a miscellany of rubbish about "Rocket Man", Jeremy Bentham's mummified head and some other unfunny choite. A waste of time and won't bother again.
Report saddo October 7, 2017 12:38 PM BST
Did they do the old chlorine chicken gags, or have they finally gone off?
Report Foinavon October 7, 2017 1:02 PM BST
No, it wasn't mentioned.

Foin's verdict: HIGNIFY was once good satire but is now total carp.
Report trilby22 October 7, 2017 1:12 PM BST
^ I'll second that verdict & won't be watching again.  My apologies for this Fred.  I was expecting much better ... even though I only caught 5 mins worth - that was plenty enough already!
