Ms Rudd said: "I want to make sure those who view despicable terrorist content online including jihadi websites, far right propaganda and bomb-making instructions face the full force of the law.

apparently watching a youtube video will get you 15 years now, what counts as far right propoganda?  watching a mass immigration video?  anything that is critical of the government?

will we get a pass like the people who stab their boyfriends in the leg?

I think you know what "far right propaganda" is. Good luck anyone posting you tube links, it's going to be a bit more serious that getting a post deleted by a betfair mod.

sadly i think i know all too well, dont type in is***l on youtube and youll probably be fine

seems rudd is getting plenty of abuse for the idea even within her own party, so hopefully they have a clear definition by the time they put some bill together.

Should be a punishment for posting and against the host if not removed promptly but viewing, I think that a step too far.

The govt are blaming the internet and those reading it for being 'radicalised' (yuk) into acts of violence.

It's a bit like blaming Robert Dyas for selling kitchen knives.

what an absolutely shameful, technically illiterate waste of time and of tax-payers' money.

even the effort to come up with the policy, let alone the hours and hours wasted preparing and passing the bill.

anyone who wishes to browse the web anonymously knows exactly how to do it.

It would be a good thing for any country if the Internet was censored, as it is in China.
Report donny osmond October 3, 2017 4:32 PM BST
are you censored in china lfc?
Report lfc1971 October 3, 2017 4:32 PM BST
But not for political or non violent websites .
Report lfc1971 October 3, 2017 4:34 PM BST
no , just because China stops political discussion does not mean that we have to . It is violent and extreme websites that we should censor.
Report lfc1971 October 3, 2017 4:37 PM BST
porn also , any country would be wise to stop these things.
Report donny osmond October 3, 2017 4:37 PM BST
who could argue with that?
Report lfc1971 October 3, 2017 4:39 PM BST
: ), no I think there needs to be much greater censorship , it is terrifying the sort of society we are becoming.
Report lfc1971 October 3, 2017 4:44 PM BST
Also it is notable that since the internet people have become less talanted and creative, a successful society has to have the correct balance between freedoms and cautious restrictions.

What is 'far right propaganda' and why is it always lumped in with Islamic terrorism?

I tried googling it and all I got was other sources to this same story.

People who repeatedly view terrorist content online will face up to 15 years in prison, the home secretary has told the Conservative Party conference.

Amber Rudd set out her intention to change the law to increase the maximum penalty from 10 years.

The offence of possessing information likely to be useful to a terrorist will also apply to material viewed repeatedly or streamed online.

Currently it applies only to material that is downloaded and stored.

An example cited was of a male who streamed bomb-making videos on YouTube but could not be charged with a terror offence because he had not saved them.

The changes to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000 will be designed to safeguard those who click on a link by mistake, or who could argue that they did so out of curiosity rather than with criminal intent.

Crikey - I've typed in ISIRIS before now! 15 years to access a horse racing tipping service. I better go into hiding!!

Mind you, anyone who has used the ISIRIS 'service' deserves to get a 15 years jail sentence in my view!
