Your half, probably; your boss's half, probably not.
Whether it's a good idea is another question. Do you work in a small company where the head of HR is your boss's wife's cousin or a huge mega-corp where HR rules the roost? In either case, your complaint will likely get back to your boss but the question is whether he can retaliate against you. Suppose you are right, and your boss did stiff you on the appraisal: what will change? Will HR award you a back-dated payrise and a gold clock, or will they just reprimand your boss who will spend the next year gathering evidence for your 2018 appraisal? Is there a union or works council? What does it say in your staff handbook? Can you see the state of your appraisal on your company intranet? In your shoes, I'd consider not mentioning appraisals directly and instead express it along the lines of: I'm naturally disappointed in not being given a pay rise; is there any feedback on my performance or from my appraisal so that I can improve for next year? Something that will trigger HR to look for your appraisal and discover it is missing (if it is); of course, there is a risk they also discover you are invariably late, half-cut in the afternoons, and take more sick days than the rest of your department combined. I'd also consider looking for a new job. |
