Just in case your Antivirus hasn't updated and highlighted this to you, you might not know you have it, mine ( Avira ) just told me today, which means I've had it for 2/3 days. The CCleaner version was v5.33.6162 and was updated on the 15th. Stay safe out there.

I've been putting my update off, GEESUSS. Just clicked on the reminder to check the version number, and windows defender popped up 'found some malaware, windows defender is removing it'.
Sorted now.

I cant say as anything surprises me now as to the depths humans will do to decieve lie and cheat others.
Ever since the experian hack recently I have had about 30 spam emails that manage to evade my spam filter, and most of them address me by my name, which implies some business holding my data has been hacked and the data sold.
Add to that all the attempts that replicate a message from Apple, Paypal or countless others saying my accounts are frozen (when they arnt), or an amazon order was placed (when it wasnt) or a delivery from royal mail (that doesnt exist), all lead me to believe that there is infact nothing lower than the human being.

Just checked on my laptop after the recent update. Malwarbytes detected 3 Trojan. Unbelievable that something you use to keep things safe gets infected.

I used to use the freebie anti-virus software at first (Avast and then Microsoft Security Essentials), and at first they were very good, but they couldn't keep up with all the bad stuff being created out there. Then someone recommended to me an American company called 'SpyHunter'. I thought I'd try that for a while and to be honest I'm very impressed with it. On first scanning it came up with about 190 items of various bits of malware which previous AV software appears to have missed. My mate who recommended this to me had nearly 1000 pieces of malware! Also, my PC booted up and ran faster following the first scan and malware removal.
The downside is that it's not cheap - about £65 per year, but since installing it, I've not experienced any problems. I occasionally do a scan and on rare occasions it has come up with a few items that shouldn't be there.
I used to be dead against paying for anti-virus protection, but over the years I've changed my mind about that.
