Is it always 2 coats when skimming walls? Just got a quote and guy said if I prep it all using thistle bond it he can do it for £175 a room not including ceilings. But think that was for maybe one coat is that possible just use one coat. Was an old boy not the sort who d want to think it wise to cut corners.
Btw the walls are old plaster and quite un even in places. He won't be able to hide the lumps or curves but a smooth finish is a must obviously. Oh and thats me providing materials as I can get them a little cheaper through work.
If ur doing it ,Do it right knock the old plaster off the Walls if there are bulges its coming away from the Lats anyway, can only be Future Problems ,Knock it all off Then plaster Boards up Hard work, but easy enough to do ,once the Boards are up get a Plasterer to skim them as there is an art to that ,the board work is basic Labouring and dusty and dirty work but well worth Doing .
