Perhaps the best spin we could put on it is that the probability of it happening is not quite zero given that he is the leader of a UK political party. Caroline Lucas has a similar chance.

He thought he'd got the price right when he sold the Post Office. Silly Vince.

I'm surprised the BBC have this on their website. The Sunday Sport refused to publish this statement on the grounds that their readers wouldn't find it believable.

seems like vince was correct about royal mail shares
|
|
By:
Indeed - The Royal Mail share price stands about 13% above its float price of £3.30. The FTSE 100 as a whole is about the same percentage up since the float date which suggests that the speculation which drove the share price up in the first few weeks after the float was just that - speculation.
In fact Royal Mail has now been demoted from the FTSE 100. |

Is Vince still keen on unlimited immigration, or has he mellowed?

vince cable thinks he could be the next prime minister
So did Ed, he genuinely believed he was about to become Britain’s prime minister..... But Miliband had no real leadership qualities. ![]() |

Leader of the only Party that advocates REMAIN in the EU in a country where almost half the population voted for that policy, yet can't get the votes of the remainers. Hmm.

There was a time when Cable had credibility but post Brexit like most of the LibDems he's sounding increasingly out of touch with reality.
|
|
By:
what time was that then ? 29th february ? in any event i must have missed it
they were utterly rejected at the election and hardly any ordinary person remotely interested in another referendum on the terms of brexit but that's all they bang on about these days |

There was a time when Cable had credibility.....................
He almost seemed a lone voice amongst politicians in 2007/2007 stating that people borrowing 6 times their income on property valuations 120% of market price was a recipe for imminent disaster. I don't think Brown & Co paid him too much heed in those days. They were too busy being ripped off on poorly negotiated PFI schemes for the NHS and running up the deficit despite a healthy tax take. I recall that Cable was onto the Labour Government's fallacies before most of the metropolitan buddies and luvvies. Agree that he now seems increasingly out of touch and a marginal figure. |

It's a myth though isn't it that he predicted the crash? We still HAVE people borrowing too much, the financial crash was largely caused by the uk banks having exposure to very bad loans in US sub prime market, and these worthless loans being salted in with good loans so they were hidden, and also things like the RBS buying a huge overpriced rubbish Dutch bank that was AFAIK gain exposed to these US bad loans. There wasn't AFAIK any sort of mass default in the UK or house price crash and negative equity. It was the US sub prime disaster that caused it and he as far as I'm aware he never even commented on that.
Yes people shouldn't borrow too much but the idea Vince Cable predicted the cause of the crash is pretty much bollox, the thing he said would crash still hasn't crashed 10 years later!! |

2 parties made 'Remain' their big ticket at the election: SNP and Lib Dums.
Sturgeon took a shoeing. The Dums expected remainers to vote with them and they didn't. Paltry gains and Farron had a reduced majority and then quit. Like many I had a high regard for Cable pre 2010. Since then he's been poor. Lately he's become downright embarrassing. |

Vince Cable is the epitome of a Snake Oil salesman.
I had the "pleasure" of seeing him in action just prior to the election and he came across as very amiable and charismatic. However, reality had taken a vacation...as it turned out had most of his parties supporters... ![]() |

The way forward for the young of today.Vote for a 74 year old to be prime minister. Is he stark raving mad??
|
|
By:
What's he meant to say? If asked the question he has to say it's possible. Of course he knows it's incredibly unlikely. Bizarre to bring his age into it too. May and Corbyn are both in their 60's anyway whilst Trump is leader of the most powerful country in thew world at 71.
Cable is an excellent politician, economist and a very decent man with bright ideas. He'd make a much better Prime Minister than Corbyn whilst almost anyone would do a better job than Maybe. Of course it won't happen because we've very much become a 2 party system and because the Lib Dems will never recover from Clegg's betrayal. And maybe 'ordinary' people are not interested in another referendum but anyone displaying intelligence and caring about the future of the country should be. |

just a few of the policies cables had his name signed upto in the last 7 years
u turn on vat u turn on tuition fees parents sharing parental leave schools offering every child a hot meal signed up to every George osbourne cut, we might as well vote for Osbourne at least we,d be spared the ridiculous hot meals and parental leave policy |
