https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/smyllums-children-lanarkshire-kids-home-scandal-revealed-hundreds-orphans-laid-rest-nuns-mass-grave/

Not forgetting the Many Thousands being abused world wide by Priests ,What a Religion that is  ,how much longer can it last

I was brought up a Catholic needless to say I am now Lapsed, in fact I find it hard to look at a Priest or Nun without thinking they may be Wrong uns .

Remember an Irish lady talking to my mum about being made to make clothing and do laundry by same said nuns as a child in Ireland, with little food and many beatings. Horrific places.

Children  were Beaten and Sexually abused in the Homes  , Brain washed Young women ended up as Nuns Prob no work and at least they were Given Food and a Roof over their heads ,and would imagine many Forced into it by their God Fearing Parents ,their could
only be one Outcome ,they vented their Frustrations on the Poor Souls  they were mean't to be looking after .....

The Old Basterds that are left Should be rounded up and LOCKED UP .

No one in Britain or Ireland was starving at the time, no one was unable to find work.
Now if there were very bad things that happened, and i am sure there were...
being made to make clothing and do the laundry are not among them.

As far as i know no one in larnarkshire has starved to death in living memory.

because it said there were 12o, and there were 400 does not mean that the families at the time did not know, they knew.
The parents knew , the grandparents knew, the families knew.

That report was not very clear. Is it known if these are 19th or 20th Century deaths? In the days before antibiotics, it is not inconceivable that infectious diseases could have taken a high toll, especially if the children were malnourished.

LFC the Girls ended up in there Mainly because they were Unwed Mothers ,Basically they would have Known F.A about Contraception  ,The children would then be taken off them ...

Other babies were Just shifted due to the Stigma attached and the so called shame being brought upon the family

The only thing these people were interested in was SIN or getting rid of it , generations of brainwashed people being Preyed upon by the

Clergy .. The catholic Church is a Mafia Sad

Can someone explain to lfc1971 the definition of the word orphan in the o/p's link. Single syllables please.

Is that so? i think you underestimate the intelligence and the ability to think for themselves of people at that time.
Don`t make the mistake of thinking we have advanced very much over these last few generations.

As for saying there was No poverty  ??  Families were Living 6 to a room in Tenement Buildings in Dublin back in the 40s and 50s .... Nevertheless the Rooms would be Loaded with Crucifixes and Statues of our lady .They clearly didn't think for themselves either that or they thought it was Fine for Pedo Priests and Nuns to abuse their Children ,it was Hidden in the name of Shame and the Great religion .

AS stated there was Little or no sex education the poor kids probably had not got a Clue what was going on Cry

The power they had over catholic communities as recently as the 60/70's was immense. The knock on the door when a young lad (me) told you the priest is coming, caused panic among parishoners. More so if it was a Friday and you were having meat for tea. Then the inquisition - why haven't you been going to church. Don't you know it's a mortal sin. So called pastoral visit was really to collect money so that those in the priest's house had the best of food and drink on the table.
Children aged 7 coming out of the confessional crying because they had been shouted at for not saying their morning and night prayers. Same children having nightmares because they thought they would be going to Hell. People not being allowed to get married in church because they were marrying a non-catholic. Having to sit through mass for over an hour because of the length of the boring sermon. Not understanding a word of the mass because it was  in Latin.
Only bonus was we had days off school for various saint's days much to the envy of the proddy dogs - no wonder churches are empty - the games up Father.

You see I don`t trust people like crystalhunt who are determined to condemn the Christian religion.

Because I look around and see the alternative, I don`t trust them, they don`t deserve to be trusted.

now whatever happened at these homes, was that a failure on the part of the nuns?
possibly, what did they do?

or was it a failure on the part of the families, or the individual, or society?
I don`t know, we would have to know the individual people and families and society at the time

It is very easy for people like crystalhunt to blame religion, without knowing anything more than anyone else.

so far the only direct evidence of the oppression of the Christian church in crystalhunts life is that he had to sit through church service in latin
and he got the occasional school holiday

and he is still angry after all these years.

The body count in Lanark ( although it looks awful ) is lower than what you'd expect over 60 years of looking after 10k+ orphans and the like from 1864 onwards. I think it's the mass grave thing that worries people most, but individual graves are expensive, and these were children with nowt.

You must REALLY love the reactions you get on here to the crap you write.
I think you have a little chuckle to yourself every time you press 'post reply'.

The only thing we need to ask ourselves is whether you chuckle because you're actually being clever, or you think you're being clever, or you think you've made some sort of valid point and are funny, or you're as weird as you seem and not at all clever and you chuckle a lot anyway, or you don't chuckle at all.... ever.
