Appetite for Destruction is still awesome and stands up really well to time, I've listened to it a few times this year.
Did you guys realise Axl Rose is now singing for AC/DC? Not sure how well known that is.

Rolling Stones win in a canter. Probably have 150 really good songs and another couple of hundred that are pretty good. Very few stinkers.

Oasis no one can match their back catalogue apart from the Beatles, but they weren't in my lifetime. If The Beatles are the best British band ever, Oasis are unequivocally the 2nd.

They are not at the very highest level, Don`t have the depth and honesty of the very best.
Not human enough.

Depth and honesty? Sounds like some shyte a film reviewer would say. It's about the tunes, and Oasis have those in the bucket loads.
By:
lfc1971
When: 09 Sep 17 18:01
of course its about the tunes, that`s why the monkees should rate above Oasis

now if we accept that great groups must have great tunes, then look at something else as well, for the very best.

you see if you listen to Lou Reed sing Perfect Day, gosh that`s a great tune...and then again it is much more than that. It makes you feel something is missing.
That`s what I meant by being more human.

its has more depth, is more honest, is more insightful, more grown up.

Dire Straits. Lyrically the best by a distance.

Tunnel of love:

She took off a silver locket she said remember me by this
She put her hand in my pocket I got a keepsake and a kiss
And in the roar of dust and diesel I stood and watched her walk away
I could have caught up with her easy enough but something must have made me stay.
