I went along to see the current tour of the play 'A Streetcar named Desire' and was rather surprised to
see the role of Polak Stanley Kowalski played by a very tall black actor. I was puzzled as to why a black
actor would accept the role of a wife beater and rapist.

Did they sing Life, oh life, oh life, oh life? If so it might have been 'A Streetcar named Des'ree'.

Did you enjoy it, Sica Dan? Black was superb as Kowalski, Tosin Amore playing Mitch is also a very talented actor. Keep an eye out for those two.  Blanche was also very good. Disappointed by Stella though.

Not really, I know its a classic but watching a woman's descent into madness makes for  a depressing play and imo its far too long.I much preferred Scottish Ballet's interpretation, they even allowed Stanley to shout "Stella"
