My mate won an Aston Martin twenty years ago.
It was one of these airport raffles they do, where we all presume that nobody wins. He was eighteen at the time and sold it for £75k. He did go halves with a mate, but it set him up nicely to buy his first house. |

My dad won a full set of Gary Player golf clubs in a raffle and Gary signed the bag.
My dad, myself, my brother & a mate of his went to see a match between Gary Player and Nick Faldo at a golf club, near where I live, before Faldo was well known. £5 a ticket & we had a great day watching them play a course we knew very well. The raffle was held at the end of the day & it was an amazing end to a superb day out. |

Not a raffle but in 2001 I got to give Thierry Henry the Arsenal player of the month award at Highbury. I didn't even know it was a competition; I thought I was just voting for the player of the month on the website. A year later I won a signed shirt on Football Focus.

I won a bottle of brandy from a raffle two weeks running as a student. Used to do a pub quiz and we got battered by one team all the time, but the raffle was a nice consolation. |

2 raffle wins:
Hackney speedway 1976 (I think) - A set of bathroom scales and my name in next week's programme, which I've still got somewhere. Huntingdon Races about 20 years ago. I had ticket number 31 but lost it. Would have won a signed copy of Steve Smith Eccles's book. And he was there to hand out the prize and they kept calling out the winning number and I couldn't collect. ![]() |
