Ive been having trouble with my virgin landline for a while and on a couple of occasions Ive put the phone into the old BT junction that I had years ago and to my surprise theres a dialing tone on it.
If you dial out it tells you some message that you cant, but I deduced that if you press 9 then 9 again it actually waits for a third input before telling you the eroor (when normally it does it on the second input)
This lead me to think that possibly all BT landlines whether connected or not still have to send 999 calls.
Does anyone know whether this is true?
Im obv not going to try it to find out, but in this age where unwaranted landlines are still being pushed by suppliers on the basis that they provide emergency connections where a mobile is less guarenteed might it actually be the case that they, or at least the BT one will do it regardless?
Could be that they dont advertise it in case people get wise and cancel.
