Update. The victims are reportedly 14 and 17.
If the Met can't cope with the tsunami of drug/gun/knife crime, and this 'community' is unwilling to identify and inform on the criminals, maybe we need to consider a more radical approach to the fight against crime? . http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-41156217 |
By:
Any ideas on these new radical approaches?
By:
erm ok. Presuming you ca prosecute the white gangsters and British taxi drivers* for not having a tv licence, then what? Are they getting 15 years?
*Are you proposing different punishments for the same crime depending on the perp's skin colour? |
By:
No, I'm not saying 15 years is appropriate for not having a television licence. But you do understand the point? If people commit more than one crime but cannot be prosecuted for the most serious, then try the next one down. Hence the Eliot Ness (did Al Capone for income tax) reference.
By:
Tax evasion is the way to get them. Go after the money, if they don't hand some over they go to jail for a bit. Then repeat.
By:
How many teenagers due you think are going to be prosecuted for tax evasion or failing to have a tv licence?
By:
None, but maybe the adults running the gangs could be.
By:
Jeez, it's so easy. I don't understand how crime wasn't eliminated centuries ago frankly.
By:
Yes, much easier to say we simply can't do anything, in a patronising manner.
By:
Yes, much easier to pretend the other person is saying something they didn't actually say because I said summat daft.
By:
Of course it is not easy but there are good reasons to believe the current approach is not working. I've suggested something that could be tried alongside current measures.
But since I'm not in the government, there is no point in continuing with this debate. Something will have to be done, though, or the pile of murdered Black teenagers will grow and grow. |

By:
Just a matter of interest how many of the Chit Chat massive are actually affected by the events they get so worked up about?
By:
Most people are unaffected by most News, they still put it on 24/7.
By:
Its all a bit pathetic really the same people week in week out month in month out getting worked up about the same things which they themselves are never effected by. Jesus Christ have at a look at yer self.
By:
And here's you getting worked up about other people getting worked up.
But that's not pathetic at all. |
By:
Yeah I'm really worked up every day week in week out I'm all over this place.
By:
You do seem worked up mate, maybe a lie down would help you.
By:
God they're so bloody boring.
All the pubs are closing down so all the pub bores who would hang about the bar now collect in forums to set the world to rights. |
By:
Coming on Chit Chat I get flash backs to when I worked in a bar and had to listen to the same group of boring arseholes every night. The worst part was they thought they were all such great blokes, the reality was people would walk in, take one look at them turn round and walk out. Probably a lot like this place.
By:
Yeah, so you keep saying.
By:
The difference is mate, that when you worked in a bar you were obliged to listen. You are under no obligation to come on here and get worked up about nothing.
HTH |
By:
Not sure being 'worked up' is the correct phrase. More 'concerned about the future of the UK and I wish those who govern us would wake the f up.'
By:
There'shope yet injera ,the police chief recently said isolating communities was causing jihadism, etc, now who on earth would have guessed that several years ago ????????

Speaking (typing) as one who grew up and went to school in Newham, I can say it was never all that much different.
Except to look at. The place is almost unrecognisable now! The opening post was searching for "lefty loons" again, like anyone who isn't 'right' leaning supports racist, or any other, shootings. Then puts a link to the Mail. Same old same old. Blaming everything on race rather than government induced poverty and bad management then creating arguments which haven't and won't happen. With people who aren't arguing. Some of the most sensible posts on here have been from TheBaron. You're right mate, Wetherspoons has a lot to answer for. |
By:
Some of the most sensible posts on here have been from TheBaron.
Really? Have another look, because as far as I can see he's just come on here telling people they should stop talking about what they're talking about and talk about something that interests him more. This is a forum mate, people are entitled to give their views, that's how it works. |
By:
It's now a murder enquiry.
I can see that won't be of much concern to some on here, because apparently the subject of young people being murdered in broad daylight is 'boring', or they just don't want to read about it, or because Newham "was never all that much different". It's little wonder why crime flourishes when these attitudes prevail. How many more people have to be murdered before this country gets tough on gangs, guns and knives, or stops pretending there is a "War on Drugs"? . http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-41169943 |
By:
Next time you see a copper, as him why they don't round up the main drug dealers in your city.
By:
As a copper once said, put them all in a room together, give them guns, let them shoot each other, and the last one standing gets nicked
By:
Far too much common sense in that comment. Our media would be outraged.
By:
In other Newham news, when the criminal community are not selling drugs, or shooting and knifing each other, a few vibrant citizens found the time to break the back of an 82 year old cancer patient, while relieving him of his jewellery and a valuable watch.
The link below is to a BBC report of this 'incident' (copyright Diane Abbott), just in case (shock horror) any forumite might take Pretendy Offence to a Mail Online report. I've looked and looked at the BBC report, but it doesn't suggest that either "government induced poverty" or "bad management" was the cause of this appalling and cowardly crime. . http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-41185102 Apologies to anyone who finds sickening crimes against the elderly to be "boring". There are apparently a few on here. |
By:
The lack of response to these crimes and your posts, alun, might be the:
Apologies to anyone who finds sickening crimes against the elderly to be "boring". There are apparently a few on here or I can see that won't be of much concern to some on here or doubtless the London Lefty Loons will soon be marching against. desperation to argue with someone, or to get someone to defend something in the stories, when clearly no-one wants to do either. Oh and, as I said, they're not big news in Newham - It's always been a khazi. It's nothing to do with a prevailing attitude, it's to do with a lack of policing, a lack of roper punishment, a lack of care about certain places and criminals and gangs running riot - sometimes literally. So all the care and indignation this forum can muster won't make any difference and you aren't getting the opposition you seem to be craving. |

a lack of policing - Study
You wot???????? So in order to prevent crime there needs to be a large Plod presence? How about individual responsibility, strong family values, a respect for local property and people?? ![]() |

If it's anything like Bradsford City Centre and the inner city areas, it's fecked.

such a beautiful, dark and satanic place, once upon a 9ime.

What I mean injera, is that Policing budgets have been slashed and there are very few police stations left, police constables have been replaced with 'community support officers; who are powerless.
Yes in an ideal world we wouldn't need any police and everyone would be nice and lovely and wouldn't break the law. But, it isn't and they aren't and they do, so we need police. Just in case you start posting figures or some other nonsense about real terms increases in police budgets or somesuch, just have a look at how many police stations have been closed in the last 5 years or so. Also, if you think that individual responsibility, strong family values, a respect for local property and people?? are a vestige of the indigenous population, you're mistaken. My daughter works for the police, her boyfriend is a policeman, the stories are terrible and their moral is as low as it can get, for SO many reasons. The Cromer thing was a case in point. The problems there came the people in charge and a vast lack of resources, yes and they were scared of the "travellers". As I said, Newham - along with many other areas of the UK - has always been a crime-ridden dump, long before it became multi-cultural. It's now just a crime-ridden multi-cultural dump. So, YES. We need a much larger presence of plod! |

Society is much more violent than it used to be, i blame immigration not poverty. There is no poverty even in places like Newham.
Just my opinion. |
