this will not be beaten its beyond diabolical. ridiculous lyrics, devoid of melody, band image and attire only enhances the sheer crassness of the 'song ' . makes any thomson twins song sound like wichita lineman.

Is this a "betting without" Shadda Up You Face by Joe Dolce market?

Incredibly that song kept 'Vienna' by Ultravox from being #1 in the U.K. charts. The mind boggles as that was a rather brilliant song.

shadda up your face was a classic compared to reflex song, plus had no pretensions. everyone knew it was a gimmick. the reflex song remember at time was massively hyped, saturday morning shows etc  obviously had money chucked at it left right and centre. must have had friends in high places.

morpteh makem,

You Sir are a fraud and scoundrel if you think that was the worst record of the Eighties!

I call you a charlatan Sir!

I bet you were not even a baby boomer, I very much doubt you were even born in the 70's and think it most unlikely you were born in the eighties!

I think you might be a millenial Sir!

You have no idea of the brilliance of our music or the sheer diabolique!

Have you even heard of Stock, Aitken and Waterman? One of them even makes videos about steam trains and they were better than his songs!
Report Culvin • August 31, 2017 4:51 PM BST
Talking of Stock,Aitken and Waterman,a song from 1989 by The Reynolds Girls called 'I'd rather Jack',would be my choice for one of the worst songs from the 80's.

Sticking to the reflex theme, The Reflex by Duran Duran was pretty dire. It had it all, pretentious lyrics, awful synth drumming, jarring transitions and overuse of vocal looping effects.

Any band named after the baddie in Barbarella, (the delightful Jane Fonda, can't be all bads. At the time the Duran Duran videos were among the most expensive made and wre always over the top. They had to shift loadsarecords just to pay for the videos. My 2 fave Duran tunes were Hungry Like the wolf and the lesser known Come Undone.

If we want some further examples of sheer 80s awfulness, how about "Living In A Box" by Living In A Box, and one out of left-field, the appalling 'Good Technology' by Red Guitars.

The Yanks contributed much in the way of rubbish pop music in the 80s, spearheaded by Rockwell's "Someone's Watching Me".

Whatever happened to the former great white funk hopes of the 80s, Young Slicey and The Slicerettes?  They had a bit of an axe hero out front.

Saw them 'live' once. People stared at the make-up on his face, laughed at his long black hair, his animal grace. I cried sadly for a love I could not obey.

Seems a blatant rip off, of Bowie's 'Cat People (Putting Out Fire)' from 'Let's Dance'
Bowie's song was used to great effect in 'Inglorious Basterds' as the cinema was being prepared for the Nazi 'welcome'

Rockwell wasn't actually Michael Jackson. Rockwell was Kennedy William Gordy and Jacko featured on his single "Sombody's Watching Me" along with brother Jermaine (who was on backing vocals).

I'd forgotten all about this song, but now I can remember it. I'm sure I didn't think it was that bad at the time. Now of course, it sounds awful, like a lot of the 80s stuff it doesn't age well.
But seriously, this is tip of the iceberg stuff, there's so much more, a lot worse than this one.
