Channel 4 tonite The State 9.00pm

Dr  - how can this be. Shirley they are peaceful. I read it in the guardian and heard it on the BBC.

Depends if they want to attract even more recruits.

It wouldn't surprise me that the subtext of this programme will be "It's all Britain's fault anyway that these young people become Jihadis, and why not have a go yourself all you Straight 'A' Students and Mentally Ill Lone Wolves, Allahu Akbar".

Alun- no point in watching now-you ruined it for me! btw- the streets of Newham, Tower Hamlets, Luton, Bradford and Birmingham will be deserted as viewing figures for this programme soar!

Yes channel 4 has always been a Hub for the Isis Community no Doubt some of the Chaps who are currently Abroad will be streaming it from the 4 website .

Bet one or more of the central characters will garner viewer sympathy by actually showing qualities of humanity and kindness.

Yes ,with this being 4  there will probably be a Homosexual who has been brainwashed into joining the war ...

I've got an amazing idea guys!

Why not actually watch the programme and then tell everyone what you think of it ?

I know, i know... it'll never work

I`ll not be watching that sh1te.

Its a bit of a slow burner ,

And they're not shy with their ads.

I thought it was better than the Len Goodman programme.

I'm about 17 minutes into this programme, and already two gems to note.

1. When the wannabe warriors reached Retard State, the lady in charge of organising the female intake was a WHITE woman speaking in what sounded very much like an American accent. She could have passed for a receptionist welcoming you to a motel in French Lick, Indiana.

2. The man in charge of checking out the newcomers mobile phones was a WHITE man with a rather unimpressive ginger beard, and of indeterminate accent.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the 'entertainment' will consist of at the camp. Maybe a Jimmy Shand lookalike in a kilt?

Its a good job they didnt show this a year ago otherwise they would have got even more volunteers,
came across as a holiday camp with guns, swimming pool and a wife.

The writers/channel 4 should be done for treason

As I said in the op- the sooner Channel 4 is closed down the better. We are at war with ISIL ( well, they are at war with us-we are fighting them with flowers, candles, teddy bears, songs and prayers). Lord Haw Haw was hanged for treason after WW2 for broadcasting for the enemy!

Perhaps you should all watch the 4 episodes rather than just 1 before judging the programme in such an extreme way. I'm quite sure the programme makers know a lot more about the subject than you all anyway.

Easy to say if you have no personal losses as a result of the actions of this despicable organisation of murderers. Any publicity for ISIL should be stopped. We don't have to watch this programme because we watch the news!

Just misguided normal folk who have been brainwashed, no hatred in them at all really.

Only had to watch first 20 minutes to understand where it was going.
It's disgusting

Atheists ho akbar as they say in Arabic.

A woman in this life is defective. She carries urine and stool. She bleeds.

And somebody thought to have my references to calling the programme the so called Retard State removed.

Women's Hour haven't touched on much of this, which seems strange as subservience is encouraged and non-compliance with the Sharia harshly treated.

It's the back round radiation.

I haven't got as far as Episode 2 yet, but Episode 1 was full of completely preposterous drivel.

As well as the examples identified above, I particularly enjoyed :

3. The female wannabe warriors/wives all sat down to dinner in the evening in conditions resembling a banqueting hall in one of the great homes of the gilded Scandinavian elite. Long tables full of beautifully prepared food, candlelit for intimacy. I'm not sure whether she was Swedish but one of the young women characters certainly had beautiful long blonde Abba Ice Maiden hair.

4. Who would have thought that so many young white European men and women were giving up their lives of 'privilege' to go and fight for ISIS?  This drama programme was full of them. If this statistic is correct, it's one hitherto unreported by any journalist, politician, intelligence agency or Missing Persons bureau. The most devout of the new intake was a pale German lad, who has evidently visited his last bierkeller. I can only think that the presence of so many white actors was part of some C4 Compulsory Diversity initiative, because there certainly isn't a disproportionately high number of young white men leaving their European homes to go and fight for ISIS.

5. As one contributor has posted above, the training camp resembled a particularly good holiday resort. Full board free of charge and Watersports For All. Erm, if you know what I mean. On this evidence I can foresee ISIS profitably diversifying by branching out into the timeshare business, particularly now John 'Goldfinger' Palmer is out of the way.

Conclusion :

As predicted, this laughable series appears to be little more than a deranged Lefty fantasy of what it must be like to be a jihadist travelling to Syria to fight for ISIS. And as one might therefore expect, it surely has little connection with reality. Naturally all of the new recruits were presented as persons of character and integrity.

I have not watched This .My main Reason is as with other  Vermin Like Rats I have no interest in where it came from .

I just want it Destroyed ,Removed ,vapourised if Possible, as if it never was .

I just want it Destroyed ,Removed ,vaporised if Possible, as if it never was .

Indeed. A most welcome outcome.

The doctor is black. They had to use ethnicity to distinguish the women characters as the story would fall apart due to the so called Retard State dress code.

No way would her son be so uncomplaining with his new circumstances. Not having grown up in Britain at any rate.Maybe, if he was 3 or 4 years older.

Episode 2 did show how vicious they are if you step out of line.

we don`t need to see anything like that, we already see too much.

Indeed, people all over Europe see it every week, without stepping out of line. Savages belong in savage lands and should stay there.

If you had any notion of irony you might see how that post reads in relation to the ideology of the subject matter.

Watching a debate with the late great Christopher hitchens.....He had no time for the vermin.

Northanlite, spot on. Casemoney and Alun pathetic.

^ that doesn't make much sense right there, it is good to oppress an `ideology` like that.
or at least if possible ignore it.

is it ironic that northernlite and asparagus would think they are good liberals an leftists ? do not understand that.
It might be, or it might be something else again.

It might be they are idiots, who could deny that?

I'm struggling with episode 3 tbh. Someone has just equated raping Christian slaves to zero hour contracts in the UK(wtf?), and now one of the kindly Brits has bought a slave to save her, while another has found the only gay in the village and offered to marry and save him.

Islam and homosexuality together in 1 episode- Can only be Channel 4. Close it down NOW!

It was inserting the incongruous topic of zero hours that reduced it to lefty political tosh for me.

"zero hours contracts" lol, you're totally right. When someone randomly throws that into things they might as well stick a sign up saying "guardian reading leftie".
During the Brexit debates that particularely dense Trade Union woman ran out of things to say early on so rebooted and started babbling about them during a Brexit debate. WT* - the debate was about Brexit, not a Unite conference.

The "zero hours" line also made me go like "wtf??"  I'm on a zero hours contract; I guess I'm being raped by the state (our state that be, o' course).

...unless we misheard and the character was actually referring to the film "Zero Hour!"  Yeh, that must have been it. That would be more realistic.

Has this execrable drivel of a series finished yet, or is there still maybe time for the wannabe warriors to agonise over the "lack of mental health provision" in Britain, the "institutionalised transphobia" and "the Savage Tory Cuts" ™ which have "destroyed the NHS" ?

Have any of the female characters made any comment yet on the industrial scale rape of sexually-underaged white girls by Peace-Loving men across the UK?

Have any of the characters, male or female, maybe advised us yet that the atrocities being perpetrated across the globe are "nothing to do with" a Peace-Loving religion?

I did hear a character say in last night's episode:
"Islam is a religion of peace. There's a piece of you over here, a piece of you over there..."

I stopped watching, but I'm sure the Brits will realise they made an error and will come home to live happily ever after amongst those they once despised.

Indeed.  Sadly, "those they once despised" don't get a say in it.

It is becoming tiresome waiting for this long awaited integration to start happening, only ever one religion causing trouble. Mind you Corbyn is saying abuse can happen with any community, maybe not quite in such an industrial scale though ?

I didn't think it was very good tv either!

Good to see the usual racists venting their spleen without even watching it!

Shame it could have been a good topic of discussion.

My favourite line was when the Government guy told the Doctor she was a bad mum and her son was already in care!

The main question was unanswered for me!

It’s a burning question of western civilisation: what persuades young people brought up among us to walk out on their lives and join the cult of murderous fanatics who call themselves Islamic State?

The whole project was an opportunity missed.

Caught a bit of chat about this on Radio 5 on Monday. Peter Kosminsky (Director) was being asked what it was like to make.

He said he didn't want the programme to come across as Islamaphobic. 'If I have increased Islamaphobia then I despair'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b091rqsq  At 1.55 for 3 minutes.

To me that says it all. He clearly does not want people to feel any differently about Islam after watching The State.

Young people are incredibly impressionable,  they used to join the Moonies, Scientologists etc. My own brother, after dabbling in Buddhism and other hippy shlt, followed a lunatic called Andrew Cohen round the world, Cohen reckoned he was a messiah. Some people want the voting age lowered

I think he is saying he wants people to feel beter about Islam injera.

Quite. How disturbing..

How many times must I post that telling the truth is not being racist or Islamophobic!

He better be careful calling someone a racist, unless he has proof he maybe hearing from a lawyer.

Islam is not a race.

'Islamophobia' is a word invented to shut down debate on the merits or otherwise of the spread of Islam across western cultures.

Question Islam publicly and you're silenced fairly quickly. Milliband wanted to introduce a specific law making islamophobia a crime. That would effectively mean any negative opinions on Islam would be classed as criminal behaviour.

“We are going to make sure it is marked on people’s records, with the police to make sure they root out Islamophobia as a hate crime,” said Miliband. “We are going to change the law so we make it absolutely clear of [sic] our abhorrence of hate crime and Islamophobia. It will be the first time that the police will record Islamophobic attacks right across the country.” - Telegraph April 2015.

Tick tock..

it is important not to worry about why young people like this might leave Britain. These are the ones that it is a good thing that they leave, as long as they can`t return to Britain and reproduce.
There is a very high percentage of mental illness among some populations and this can be genetic, and it can also be contagious.

Britain might have to consider banning many more things, including certain religions (not including Christianity)
and possibly most of the internet also, its become too dangerous and to society.

if someone insists that Britain should ban Christianity if it wants to ban other religions ?
well then you know what sort of people they are, not very intelligent.

He better be careful calling someone a racist, unless he has proof he maybe hearing from a lawyer.

You are so right! Gosh where would he get evidence to prove his point!

I switched over to C4 news. As is normal for that shocker of a program, in their endless rotation of slots on diversity, why white people are bad and racist, LGCBTIQWERTY issues, why Trump is a fascist, why white people are racist, poor immigrants and why British people are racist, diversity etc ... it just had a ridiculous c4 style take on this issue.

There just had on about half a dozen militant leftie SJW aggressive feminists women in the C4 news interviewee uniform! What an aggressive unpleasant bunch .
They called themselves "normal". What hope is there if they are at all representative?

I had to laugh at them complaining their young folk can't say things that might get them flagged as a possible threat and how wrong this was?
If you want thought police and not being able to express themselves, try being ANYONE in public life who dares even hint at .. what Charlie Hebdo did in their cover today.

Oh and in typical C4 news style, what is on now? They've dragged on a lesbian to give her leading questions to talk about how she doesn't like Trump. Classic C4 news!

Honestly, how can people watch this progaganda rubbish and not see what it's about? C4, the entire channel is a joke now. Is there anything it makes that's actually good?

I didn't think the cartoon was very good. Certainly not in the Python pantheon but good that they weren't afraid to do it! It is a shame our newspapers don't have the courage to print cartoons about Islam. All religions deserve to be lampooned. Unfortunately, for me the Hebdo cartoon was not lampooning Islam. It wasn't remotely funny. It was very sad and the people of that religion need to claim it back. They also need to expose the terrorists in their midst. Why would you protect or shield a murderer, a child killer, they even kill more moslems than the West did!

I can't stand the gutless coward network, so I don't watch it.

I'm surprised that the tone of this thread is that the programme was in any way sympathetic to Islamic State. To me it was a savage attack on the sheer brutality, lunacy and hypocrisy of these maniacs. Well done Channel 4.

I would have expected 99% of young British Moslems to be properly deterred from wanting to be part of IS, after having viewed an accurate depiction of cruel, miserable, robotic life in "The State".

Just doing a "look how evil and stupid people who join ISIS are" film would be simplistic and counter productive.  People join ISIS for various reasons but one thing they have in common is that this cult offers them something which, for what ever reason, they feel they want in their life.

you are wasting you time in trying to do any sort of a sensible critique. this thread is clearly for knee jerk reactions to
things you either haven't seen but have made assumptions about or half watched without the brains to comprehend.

I agree with Arleystation,  It didnt show IS in any positive light.

The sheer stupidity of the cult with their "yes brother"  "Hello sister " crap is cringworthy and for vunerable people of a lower IQ which might go some way to explaining why we often hear the phrase mental issues associated with atrocities.

The series itself was poor i thought hopping and chopping between too many characters and some of them disapearing mid series without explaination.

It might have been better had each night featured one of the characters exclusively ,

And the amount of ads destroyed any continuity with C4 certainly getting their moneys worth.

All in all a big dissapointment.

^largely agree
i thought it could and should have been more compelling but it certainly pulled no punches about what is a
twisted death cult. easy to call them all maniacs but it is way worse than that
