He had a cabinet meeting in which before business starts, every person in the room had to give a 30 second speech about why he's great.

He has looked into seeing if it's possible to make his friends, family and self, pardoned in the event it becomes necessary.

Concerned about Statues? When Trump tower was built, he was asked by the Historical society to not touch the 2 important statues of great historical value within the building that was on the site until they could be removed. He didn't wait, and ripped the lot down anyway.

Trade deals are made all the time - I reckon $110 billion of arms to Saudi - which he was warned could make him complicit in war, isn't good. At least it's what he boasted he did. There seems to have been no actual deal signed.
Which Tax dodgers now pay tax? I don't know of any.
Mexicans aren't coming because he's a fruitcake. Apart from the ones who work at his various properties!

I know Trump got a lot of votes because people would rather vote for him than Hillary - even die hard Dems will admit her candidacy lost it for them. However, now they have their man in office - a billionaire 1%er who wants to look out for the little man haha. Answer me this - why have the Reps achieved next to nothing? They have the POTUS, the Senate, the House and the Supreme Court!

Good question IT. I think the GOP did their best to have a candidate that wasn't Trump, but even though I disagree with practically everything Trump does and stands for, there is no doubt he ran a very effective campaign. For the GOP it was a question of lose to Clinton and lose the POTUS again or have Trump as their candidate and have the GOP in the WH, albeit someone who would be far less predictable in his actions. For instance, the debacle over changing Obamacare. Trump honestly did seem surprised that something like that could be so hard to repeal and replace. However, if he had some political experience he would have known that the political cogs can move glacially even when you hold all the positions of power. The GOP had 7 years to get something in place that could be passed instead - they failed.

The US political scene does indeed need a kick up the backside, but for me someone like Trump is not the answer. He is just in the office to advance Trump holdings. He even manages to make George Bush Jr seem presidential.  I genuinely would like to see someone/some party come along and look out for the ordinary Americans-  that would indeed make America great again - this billionaire is not it.

I am not sure he will be able to do much of it though due to the establishment and big business wanting the status quo maintained.

Why do I care about immigration?

If America can lead the way on this maybe, just maybe the UK will follow and have stronger border controls.

Why do I care about taxes?

I would like to see small and medium sized businesses doing better locally. If he can get his measures through to encourage bigger firms to bring their money home and not hoard it offshore that will be a good thing. Lower corporate taxes for all business with big business actually paying them would be good. At the moment big business pushes the obligation offshore and small/med business pay more to make up the deficit.

US tax on business is completely different to the UK's.
Constant assistance to big business goes right through British establishment from Councils to Government.
Small business has be obliterated for the past 40 years to a point where nearly every high street is deserted and every town has more or less the same shops.
Big business owners are able to take advantage of lower tax for them in the UK.
Some of the worst things the USA has to offer (and it has some marvellous things, I know, I lived there for a while) are adopted in the UK.
The marketing, the actual companies, the relatively poor quality, the striving for profit above all else.
The regarding of staff as a necessary expense that has to be suffered rather than an asset and a means to success, which -here - they once were.

Energy might be better spent lobbying councils and government to allow people to park their cars near small shops, than supporting Trump and how things are in the USA.

Checking on and making sure big companies in the UK pay all THEIR taxes - wherever they're from. If they don't. Kick 'em out, someone else with more scruples will fill the gap.

They certainly got the gambling companies to pay their tax with the point of consumption tax which leveled the playing field.

The regulations in the betting industry still benefit the bigger firms.

In fact they love the regulation because with their economies of scale it is easier for them to implement the regulations.

I have one (small) business interest in the USA that manufactures locally (in USA) and would benefit from lower taxes and cheaper costs. I would rather the manufacturing was kept in the USA than moved offshore taking jobs with it.

If there is a subject I SERIOUSLY know all about it's the regulation of gambling companies, the GC and bookmaking in the UK.

The point of consumption tax doesn't really work because (it is quite possible, allegedly) there is no proof of the amounts of profits on which tax are paid are declared accurately. Hence none of the companies leaving abroad coming back to the UK.

They absolutely benefit the bigger firms to a point where there are fewer the 100 independent betting companies left - down from over 500 just 7 years ago.

The regulators are hardly necessary, as they are mostly self-propelling and haven't really implemented anything that wasn't being implemented either willingly or by law, before their existence. They are also toothless and will never fully crack down on the big firms, as they work so closely with them and they provide their income.

I really could go on about this at greater length than normal and indeed I have in the past.

The whole tax system is based economies of scale as you say and I agree the leniency shown to the biggest companies is unfair. The nation of small shopkeepers is no more as a result.

This is all about the UK though.
