Anyone ever received a random usb stick through the post, no name just to the resident living at, sounds like some sort of scam but i'm itching to plug it in, for all i know could be blackmail or pictures of the missus with the milkman.

Definitely, plug it in and double click everything, just to be safe.

Take a hammer and smash it to bits.  Then put the pieces in a couple of separate bins. It could be anything.

Not too savvy on the computer stuff, think ill just chuck it on top of the kitchen cupboard see if anything comes too light in a week or so. Just worried i might end up coming in after a few beers one night and end up plugging the thing in.

There's 10 million dollars waiting for you in a Nigerian bank account. The details of how to claim are on the stick if only you would take the trouble to look.

Some USBs will fry your PC as soon as you plug it in. Others will run and infect your pc.

Good luck.

Go to the nearest internet shop and plug it in on their computer. Don't throw it away before you know what's on it. Maybe the MI6 needs you.

If autorun is enabled you'd be asking for severe trouble, not sure if there's a hack to force autorun anyway, I thought I read there was one. And I think as someone said they can be wired to damage the port. If I was paranoid.. I'd maybe download one of these little linux distributions that boot off a DVD or other USB drive, boot it in an old laptop or yours with an external hub, boot it up, make sure it can't see local drives if they matter, then plug it in.

BTW Photo 14 of your missus getting out of the shower is my favourite Wink

Hackers view USB devices as an "attack vector" — that is, a vulnerability that can give them access to a single computer or network.

There are lots of articles highlighting the dangers of these things. As others have suggested, the best thing to do is destroy it. I don't think your local library or Internet cafe (if such places still exist) would thank you for plugging it in their machines.

Couldnt you report it to a pixy local evening newspaper and make a few bucks off it?
Report Just Checking August 18, 2017 7:08 PM BST
Maybe it's got a video on it, and it's like the videos in "The Ring".. does destroying it make you safe?

.. watch you don't dream of wells and long black hair tonight WinkWink

Take it to the local Boots & blow it up on their picture thingy! just make sure it's raining so the shop's empty! though is probably just how DFS are advertising their one off Sale nowadays unless one of your close neighbours leave for work every morning wearing thigh high leather boots! Crazy
