one that when you hang the clothes out to dry, the rain does not fall on the clothes but the breeze can get through to  dry the clothes.
The concept would be some sort sheeting hanging down on both sides of the line itself outside the wet clothes .the sheeting would have to be water proof but light enough to let the breeze through it.I think I can get orders from every home in the land.My product would be in much demand and would cost nothing after purchase .this would do away with clothes dryers that cost money to run. Most people hate when it rains when they have clothes hanging on the clothes line.So my idea would solve the problem for ever and a day.
The sun would have to be able to shine through the material I use for sheeting.Something like lace but water proof.
What do you think guys ?have I got the greatest invention since Sliced Bread.Cool

Or you could use a tumble dryer.

Great idea brassneck - if I may, can I make a slight modification...? A small motor attached to move the line backwards and forwards for those days when there is no breeze.

now we are moving, between us all we should be able to turn the idea into reality.
Firstly the tumble dryer costs money to run,and women say they like to air clothes even after tumble drying so some women still hang the clothes out to air them and that is when the rain comes.
So lads what sort of material is water proof but light enough to let sunlight and fresh air through it.once we get the material the design will follow.

plastic is water proof and lets the sunlight in but stops the fresh air.So if the plastic had pin holes in it would it stop the rain.?
the air would get through but on a bad day the plastic might leak.Laugh

And then I was thinking that everyone has a hot press in their house. So if I took the shelves out of the hot press you would have a walk in drying room and I could hang the clothes in it.Most peoples hot presses are full of crumpled clothes and when you look for something you cant find it,so a hot press is really a room going to waste.Laugh

Platic sheeting is fine - its the angle of the holes if we can can design plasic sheeting to hang over the washing but the holes would be punched at an upward angle letting the rain drain naturally downwards, giving a waterproof cover (bit like a slated roof)

I was thinking that everyone has a "hot press" in their house....

What part of the world are you in, brassneck?

I hate to see clothes strung across a garden or, as often seen, hanging in front of houses on the roadside (there should be a bylaw against it)!

If you leave clothes to dry without heat they will stink!

If you dry them, for instance, on radiators your whole house will be damp!

In always rains in Glasgow,so Glasgow alone would get at least 10 million quid profit if I add a quid to the manufacturing cost.
I can see the orders coming in now 10 million brassneck clothes lines for Glasgow city.5 million in green and 5 million in blue.
so this material or plastic sheeting is holding up production.i guess I could generate at least 100 thousand new jobs, this opportunity must not be missed.Surely there is a get up and go young guy out there in cyber land that has the ambition to make it big in society ,"well now is your chance,TAKE the brassneck idea and start"
just develop one clothes line that works and bob is your uncle.Cool

And as regards clothes lines being unsightly with the new brassneck clothes line your clothes would be dry in one hour every time you hang them out ,so no need to leave them hang outside for days hoping they would dry .
All husbands would love wives more when they get up in the morning and have a  choice  of a number of large crisp dry shirts to wear instead of hearing the old story that the shirt you want to wear is damp.
This would even reduce the divorce rate in the country. And housewives would be happier because their husbands would be happier.
in fact this clothes line would have the possibility of putting back the old feel good factor into every marriage.
