When GB was doing well in the Olympics...... Winning medals in tiddlywinks etc, the medals table seemed to be permanently etched on our TV screen.

Not seeing much of the medals table in these athletics
Pause Switch to Standard View They don't show the medals table very...

They showed GB on the medals board the other day, mind you they had to go to page 5.

Noticed the hot bed of athletics, Venezuela, were above us.

Maybe today's youngsters think athletics is passé and are going in for more intellectual purse suits  ...yeah , I'd say that's probably it.

Now we know why they put on a ceremony for the awarding of the gold medal jess ennis was robbed of almost a decade ago.

It was because they knew the present gen are carp and theres nothing like churning out the old faves when the new material is gash.

If there was a table for finishing 4th, GB would be in the lead!

probably doped out of their brains for the olympics
Report Ramruma August 12, 2017 9:54 PM BST
In the Olympics, our total was bolstered by lots of medals from bikes and boats.
Report lfc1971 August 13, 2017 6:52 AM BST
Britain ahead of almost all countries in the world, even second instead of 4th had Mo got gold instead of silver.
Pretty good result all round.
Report lfc1971 August 13, 2017 6:54 AM BST
Britain is good at everything , that is why it does so well at the olympics.
Report lfc1971 August 13, 2017 7:05 AM BST
If you were to take every sport known to man and then asked who is the greatest nation of these combined sports there is only one answer, and by a very large margin,  Britain.
Report lfc1971 August 13, 2017 7:10 AM BST
And should you include games and pastimes ?well again then there is only one answer and Britain laps the rest of the world perhaps 10 times or more.
Report lfc1971 August 13, 2017 7:14 AM BST
no other nation has such a range of talents and interests, from train spotting to breaking the 4 minute mile.
Indeed no other country could have invented train spotting, only Britain ,
To many nations it is completely incomprehensible , they're like that,
They can only be what they are.
Report lfc1971 August 13, 2017 7:23 AM BST
But then again we invented trains also , but that's just the sort of thing Britain is good at .
The achievements and talents and interests of the British men and women over history is something like a miracle .
Who could deny that ?
Report lfc1971 August 13, 2017 7:29 AM BST
could any other nation in the world have invented , let's say, trains and cricket ?
certainly not, the very idea is preposterous and almost unimaginable.
Report lfc1971 August 13, 2017 7:41 AM BST
So all in all its been a pretty good world championship for Britain , yes it could have been better perhaps .
But you should always give other people just a little chance.
