Just read the lyrics to the Italian anthem
Talk of victory and dying for the country. The war had hardly started when they were waving the white flag. Good tune though. |

Ours is best -- or at least does not celebrate war and revolution; it is not bombastic. The tune is a bit of a dirge though.
USA's is hard to sing and seems to break into a christmas carol in the middle. Germany's was best -- good tune and proclaimed Germany was uber alles but the post-war words make it sound like a 1970s advert for the tourist board, as does Australia's. Russia's has a stirring tune -- basically the old Soviet anthem with new words. Maybe that is the trick -- we cannot understand how banal non-English words are. |

The Spanish national team or any Spanish national team don't sing the Spanish national anthem because it has no lyrics.

Flower of Scotland
Racist, smalltime, unintelligible and although I'm not a musician, the melody where he's sent homeward 'tae think again' is just a jarring noise at odds with the rest of the tune. |

@Whisperingdeath -- only the actual national anthem bits are considered, as you can see from my comments on Germany. The remaining verses of the songs are of no concern.
