Is Sickle Cell Anemia a beneficial mutation?
Having two copies of the mutated genes cause sickle cell anemia, but having just one copy does not, and can actually protect against malaria - an example of how mutations are sometimes beneficial.

there you go - when the patient strokes at age six, tell him it's a plus? he's not going to get malaria.
because his cells are malformed and the parasite can't use them?

It's probably funding season for scientists.

So only half the genes carry the mutation. Is it that more people carry the gene that protects than actually have the anaemia?
Is that the point?
As you say it's not terribly positive for those who die from it.

three uncles of mine took chemo - it seemed they died very quickly?
no remission. just a quick deterioration.
i had a Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy while awake and said - fk that, no more doctors.
that was brutal, like ALIEN ? i'm not going near them again.
everything involves pain?

resp - your clip with rick Mayall.
if you take the date Sept 11th 2001? it's an immediate flag in my mind, two reasons.
in school we were taught about the black September movement. A terrorist organization -
we studied the middle east in modern studies. It's a bunch of maddies from a mid east nation (s.Arabia)-
If any one single event could be described as biblical in stature - that was it. the people in the streets below all cried out God or Jesus when the planes hit?

years ago i got interested in the spacing of 911 and the 2008 financial crash, it seemed odd, the seven year gap? i back tracked sevens and got interesting results for those years.

2008,2001,1994,1987,1980,1973,1966,1959,1952,1945,1938,1931,1924,1917.
amongst those years i noticed 1973,66,45,38,17 as being relevant to Jewish history?
so i looked at September and found out the Jewish religious year starts in September.
so if you say now... sep 1917-sep1918, sept1938-1939, sept1945 - sept 46,
Sept 1966-sept1967, sep1973 - 1974. 2001-2. 2008-09, 2015-16? you have a strange pattern unfolding? all these years have high relevance immediately ? after more looking, i came across a real pattern called the schmitah? a Jewish cycle that is said to exist - it lines up exactly as i was lining up my numbers. i came upon something that the jews have known about for thousands of years. totally independently? it's very strange. because to check my dates i wondered when the yom kippur war started? was it after on September? or after it? it as... oct6th? within the range. 1917 too - the Balfour declaration was made November, city of Jerusalem captured in December? very spooky.
the schmitah was described as a cycle set up by God in the bible for the people to receive blessings or a curse from God depending on their actions upon the land. 7x7 yrs, then a jubilee year. So a Jubilee yr ends in a 17 or a 67.
God told the Jews they can have the land for 120 JUBILEES. 6000 years.
the Jews know about the 6000 years, but they lost count. they gave up following the schmitah. they are now seen as a very secular nation. losing grip of their beliefs in a lot of ways.
All this led to me investigating what might be the end times schedule if you extrapolated it forward. After weeks on the spreadsheet i came across the 2017 revelation 12 sign. I thought it was crazy they actually believed in the Rapture. I always thought it was a fringe nonsense dreamt up by hollywood? from a fringe source. But closer study of the bible absolutely supports it. My own theory meant that everyone dies and god sorts them out afterwards. But this rapture idea actually sorts out all the problems I saw in my theory.

It's so complicated and yet so simple. it's about covenants. it's about the holy spirit. both have to disappear. unless they go. nothing will move. once they go. evil can move freely. it's a stalemate. until two pieces are removed off the board. God and his people must leave the earth and a new covenant replaces the grace covenant. So the rapture is an essential happening.

september 23rd - the seventh day of creation is here soon. Man becomes
a new creature, better than any evolution dream. in an instant he progresses
to heaven... up several dimensions. God's love takes us further than can ever
be imagined.

Sickle cell anemia isn't a mutation. Except in the sense every gene in every organism is a mutation.

eh - that was a cut and paste question, not from me? but
by someone else on the internet.

It is listed as a mutation.

many many pages about that...

Beneficial mutation #3: Malaria resistance

The classic example of evolutionary change in humans is the hemoglobin mutation named HbS that makes red blood cells take on a curved, sickle-like shape.

How many people have been killed by Sickle Cell Anaemia ? I don't know. How many have been killed by Malaria ? hundreds of millions at least .

So of course it is beneficial .
