...Take their own poles and javelins with them to meetings or pick from a supply of ones there for them to borrow? Seems like a personal thing that could increase performance?

they have their own transported by plane - but it's pot luck as to whether they are accepted onto the flights as checked baggage and if they can't they have to use whatever they find when they get there, apparently Sergey Bubka once had a pole vault broke in half by staff so it would fit onto the plane Laugh doubt this happened though.

using a javelin for pole vaulting could be a bit risky so i guess they are
allowed to use their own poles

The Irish sport of catching the javelin never caught on properly.

Too many injuries.

Javelins are picked from a selection supplied by the event organiser.  Poles are personal items (like a snooker cue) and are taken to events by the competitor.   They can use any length or bendiness; whatever their preference.

North Korea have got a brilliant javelin thrower but not allowed to compete with his own spear as they are worried he'd hit Chicago with it.

Bit of advice for todays young men.
Never go out with a female pole jumper or javelin thrower.
Their expectations are far too great.

At school, a very accomplished javelin thrower, had one skim a low wall, and ricochet through a girls leg!
