Nearly started a fred on this topic.

His words are disgusting, an insult to everyone over the age 30. He can predict the future too.

Young people, he said, have the added problems of "prohibitive housing costs, growing job insecurity and limited career progression".

Perhaps he should ask himself why that is the case instead of thinking that young people and college students have all the answers when we know they are just idealists without life experience.

I'm guessing Mr Cable's pension will be far more generous than most folk could dream about.

It's people like him deliberately trying to put the young against the old to gain votes. The libdems are incredibly sore losers over brexit and are frankly disgusting.

The seems to think of himself as a sort of self proclaimed genius, due to him predicting the financial crisis, except .. well he didnt did he.

Would he, assuming he understands supply and demand, explain how unlimited immigration and a housing shortage helps the young - given that's what he wants yet he complains brexit will make worse? (when it will make it BETTER)

living standards are protected by the triple lock on pensions.

Yes he actually said that.

A 2.5% rise last year, which was worth nothing to those on pension credit, and not much more to those pensioners who pay tax on their pittance of a state pension.
Is protecting their living standards.

Mr Bean rides again.

Actually people like Cable who condemn current pensions, and work to get them reduced are shafting tomorrow's pensioners not today's OAPs.

Today's OAP's pensions are unaffected by legislation that affects only future people who retire.

So it's the kids who he's pretending to champion who will be hit by smaller pensions.

With friends like him the kids don't need enemies.

I too found his remarks disgraceful. Notice how he slipped in the new way of describing Leavers: Jihadi Brexiteers.

I used to like him before the Lib Dems entered the Coalition. Can he not see that unlimited immigration (for example) has increased pressure on housing and jobs for the young??

He rose without trace.

Hit the headlines with his snide remark about Brown changing from Stalin to Mr Bean.

Then slipped quietly away to chew the cud and reflect on the day when he bought the house down.
He's been living off that day ever since.

As long as the member of the family that most of you are happy to lose their job in order to make some possible far off gains (the survey that cable was commenting on) doesn't come running to you to help them stay afloat then all's good eh? It will all be over soon and once we've renegotiated the 94 trade deals (that we already have as part of the E.U) then the £'s will come rolling in. At least we'll have control over our borders - though we will have to re-employ the border guards that have been sacked for 'efficiencies' over the last few years and increase the boat(s) that looks after our shoreline by about 4000% and Robert is indeed your uncle....... or auntie now known as 'Janice'.

Jihadi Brexiteers?!!

Has he read the hundreds of thousands of comments on social media, willing the country to fail, the gleeful revelling in every bit of economic bad news and the positive spin put on every utterance from the Brussels camp, by sore Remainders?

They would rather see the country fail in order to somehow be proved right.

Cable is old enough to remember the U.K. before we joined what was the 'Common Market'. It was a country that had for centuries traded successfully worldwide and was a country, due in part to the commonwealth and two World Wars that was multi cultural. I hope that the young people don't fall for the propaganda that Cable and his ilk are spreading.

They already have.

You can talk 'til your blue in the face about a generation kids slung on the scrapheap in Spain and Greece. You can ask how an overwhelmingly white North European club isn't racist and how EU red tape confers a competitive advantage on the big businesses they purport to despise, as they are wealthy enough to employ departments of compliance droids, forcing smaller, more nimble and progressive businesses out of the market. You can ask them how Scottish Nationalists are keen to throw off the yoke of Westminster - but simultaneously want to tie themselves into the yoke of Brussels.

You can point out all these logical inconsistencies - and all you get is 'Ohh Jeremy Corbyn' ('the reluctant remainder') and some platitudes about not being racist.

So you want to do a reversal back to pre 1973 as you have a rosy picture of the past.

Love it when words are put into my mouth.

What I want is for democracy to be respected and the referendum result implemented - and if it doesn't work out then I'm more than happy to go to the country with a second referendum......after another 41 years say.

As to a rosy picture of the past, Remainers remind me of the Premier League advocates, who think there was no football before 1992, 'cept for 'football' read trade /  immigration / general freedoms and for 1992 read 1975

The thing about this is the older people said they may be preparted to accept, if it had to happen, economic "damage". They did not say, and this is crucial, that they voted thinking that it WOULD cause it, which is a very different thing. And it certainly does not say that it will happen, only the future will tell that. That thick mischief making gobsh- Cable probably doesn't understand this though. Or maybe he does but he's being a slippery geezer with the facts.

In fact many remainers, as usual, are misrepresenting this survey as saying the older leave voters voted almost with the intent to scroo things up. And that idiot cable seems to be saying it's now accept it will be a disaster. Well the BBC says that but the BBC should be getting the license fee removed as they are incredeibly pro remain. I'm fed up of the level on debate on Brexit, it's pathetic.

The libs are soooo desperate to get back the leftie student vote aren't they, it's almost sickening Laugh

Bizarre position they continue to take.

-Least likely position for a democrat to take yet they do very little to try to explain how their position serves democracy. Do they know its undemocratic but dont care? Do they think its the most democratic position but doesnt need any explanation as to why?
-Falling into the silly ironic form of modern liberalism where its not enough to defend the liberty of a group, you have to attack the liberty of any group that isnt bending over backwards to help it.
-Dramatic tabloid soundbites more suitable for starting arguments and causing division than uniting or trying to present a thoughtful opinion. 'Jihadi brexiteers' isnt likely to convince a leaver to consider their position so what purpose does it serve other than more division and hostility?

The libs have been at it for a while. They thought the hyperbole of "hard brexit" wasn't stupid enough, so they upped the ante, turned the dial up to 15 and started calling it "Extreme Brexit" every time they could. What .. the ...  ^&^&%^&! ""Extreme Brexit". You can't take these idiots seriously. The libs are extremely childish perhaps.
