Good news they have backed down, thou pretty stupid in the first place.

Donors were up in arms over this original move, NT were going to lose millions.

'The National Trust has reversed a decision to bar volunteers from public-facing duties at a Norfolk stately home if they refuse to wear rainbow sexual equality symbols'

Hadn't heard about this, just proves they are determined to force this kind of thing on anyone and everyone. Shameful stuff.

"volunteers uncomfortable with the badges had been offered "the opportunity to take a break from front-facing duties if that's what they would prefer".

"However whilst volunteering for the National Trust we do request and expect individuals to uphold the values of the organisation."

So the National Trust have decided to campaign for homosexuality. Do they intend refusing volunteer work to people who are not pro gay in future, and if so how will they find out about applicant's views towards gays?

Like everything in the uk management has been infiltrated by libtards with an agenda rather doing the job they are paid to do.

Whoever came up with this, selfish, stupid, instruction - should be INSTANTLY DISMISSED.

The building in question appears to have belonged to a gay bloke, and the badges were only for a couple of weeks. Storm in a multi-coloured teacup imo.

House was donated by a gay bloke who kept his sexuality a secret.

The whole gay thing has become an issue to judge virtually everyone. For NT volunteers and staff to be told to where those badges is incredible. To then put those who refused into the background is staggering.

Is anyone allowed a contrary view these days??

So it was a one-off for a month or so at a handful of National Trust properties that had previously belonged to gay people. Staff at one complained. Could it have been better handled? No doubt. Does it matter? Probably not.

Of course it matters! Why should people be defined by their views on different expressions of sexuality?

Bryan Barkley (71) was a long time volunteer at the Red Cross. He was sacked in 2014 for opposing same sex marriage.

Colin Hart, campaign director of the C4M (Campaign for Marriage) said: “This is a shocking case – Bryan was a senior volunteer, undertaking very complicated and technical work for the Red Cross.

“For nearly two decades he helped to reunite people with lost family members.

“Yet after voicing his opposition to the Government’s undemocratic plans to rip up the traditional definition of marriage he was fired.

“He broke no law and his only crime seems to have been that he was one of the millions of ordinary people who opposed this change.

“There has never been any suggestion that Mr Barkley acted inappropriately while at the charity, or even pushed his views while volunteering.

“Indeed just 24 hours before he was notified of a disciplinary meeting, he attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace with other volunteers, employees and supporters of this organisation."

volunteers should be cherished

there is a wealth of talent all around this country giving their time and experience free
of charge

no harm in flagging up gay donors , they need to be cherished too, but forcing, or
pretty much forcing volunteers to do things which make them uncomfortable seems
to be plain stupid

well done for standing up to pressure

pretty similar to poppy season, and those that dont want to wear
them should be quietly allowed to do so whilst those that wish to
show their respect can do so with pride

I am appalled anyone should object to bottom bumping.  I have taken a fence.
