Excellent as Steven Castle in 'The Sweet Smell of Succession' (The Sweeney).  An episode which also features the sublime Sue Lloyd.

I had to look to see who he was.
Then I saw this:

The actor Robert Hardy, star of TV series All Creatures Great and Small, has died aged 91, his family has said.

Hardy, they said, had a "tremendous life" and "a giant career in theatre, television and film spanning more than 70 years".

He was also known for numerous portrayals of Winston Churchill.

He could act a bit.

I've lived my whole life with people saying I look exactly like him. Strange feeling he's not there anymore.

Didn't realise that he was once married to Cathy McGowan.

How strange. In my youth a few girlfriends said I resembled a young HB. "As drink and an over-active thyroid took their toll on his appearance – making him look, as one critic put it, “increasingly like a sketch for a Francis Bacon pope” – he specialised in booze-raddled thugs." You will be glad to know the same fate didn't befall me.

Not seen it reported he had died, whilst the much older Robert Hardy is all over the BBC News. 40-50 years ago Bennet would have been the bigger star.

he was in a lot of good films

The family way, twisted nerve, virgin soldiers and Loot.

I always think twisted nerve is a Hitchcock film? a lot like Frenzy.
It had that great whistling Tune - look it up on youtube.
just like a hitchcock film tune. very catchy.

Loot was a quality film too, stage play. All the best films start out as a stage plays
with a handful of characters.

he reminded me of David Hemmings, both were in vogue, until they started to age badly.
The youthful star sliding into the character actor.

Veronica Lake was like that. A window of opportunity that faded quickly.

Actors lead fabulous lives. They get paid fortunes for doing what comes naturally.

The rest of us have to work for a living.

rip HB and RH. Didn't know these actors had passed until coming here.
Also enjoyed those films you mention zorro, esp. the ones in which he co-starred with Hayley Mills. The last one I saw was Endless Night, a curious but entertaining film based on an Agatha Christie story,  with a very nice Herrmann soundtrack (who was also responsible for that whistling tune in Twisted Nerve - then borrowed by Tarantino of course for Kill Bill).
The Family Way worth watching for the performance by John Mills alone.
It was a only a few days ago that my father and I were watching a Glenn Ford flick called Torpedo Run and contesting whether or not some bit part character was being played by Robert Hardy - I reckoned although close in appearance, it couldn't be him, surely RH didn't star in any 50's American war films? But my father was right, Robert Hardy it was.
