I don't suppose many of you will have heard of the David Gains Legacy Project, but it was set up by our eponymous hero so he could raise funds for various Cancer charities as he went through the various stages of terminal cancer.

All sorts of events were held - Quizzes, Race Nights, music nights, etc, auctions with prizes donated by all kinds of Essex-based celebrities and businesses. Most of the events were held at or under the aegis of Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club, which is a few miles outside Chelmsford, and is quite a nice little ground, with a virtually grassless square on which to bowl off-spin.

So this has all been going on for at least a year, and as far as I can make out they have raised tens of thousands of pounds.

So yesterday all is revealed, and David Gains turns out not to have ever had cancer.

Not come across this before but I would say at least a charity has done well out of this...except his website has his personal bank details on for donations. Cry
