if you are worried about getting diabetes just eat raw sugar until you get it and then the worry will be over.

avoid flours, coating the villi, stops you taking in chromium and vanadium into your diet. they are needed by cells to process sugars.

I got a letter telling me I had this.

To be honest, I shat it a bit and thought ' What to do' etc. Looking up the internet stuff about blood sugar etc.

I stopped all sugar, and i was a bit of a sweetie punter- haribo etc,........and when scooping went to top shelf rather than pints. So while those things are off the menu, the real story is to cut out carbs I think. Bread, rice, tatties, pasta.

I avoided that lot and the timber came off. But more importantly the blood sugar came right down. I started testing myself every morning.

The tests say I',m normal now , in blood sugar terms anyway.

When you say about what to eat- as much meat as you want, and cheese and nuts etc. I like all that so I'm lucky. Soup is a great lunch.

God luck Redbag

Well done mikeycoxn1,

Looks like you're one of those that got away.

You're supposed to eat a balanced diet including carbs and sugar, until you get Stage 2 diabetes then they put you on medication for the rest of your life.

People like you who cure themselves must be costing the drug companies a fortune.

They're even trying to tell people they can drink with diabetes now.

wine and vinegar - clears the villi in the intestines.
the villi absorb the minerals and the fuel from the food.

the filter can't be clogged. clog it with carbs(flour-gluten)

your cells need those minerals to process sugars.

so wine does a good job, but too much wine hits your liver.

Hope you and mikey will be OK redbag.

Thanks Dr and Slippy,

I still take a good drink- I'm Scottish!!- but instead of horsing the pints as I did, I just have vodka/Diet Coke or gin/slimline tonic.

A lot less timber, NO sugar and I don't get mortal so don't get into bother with herself.

Top shelf redbag is the way to go

Pre diabetes is early warning that you are heading for Stage two diabetes.

Above 6.1 after fasting is the amber warning light for pre diabetes and you need to act immediately.
Over 6.9 and you've already gone over the cliff.

If you've passed the age of 70 you're at increased risk purely down to your age.

Caught the tail end of the program about the Doctors surgery last night, there was a fella with open wounds where they'd taken a couple of his toes off. I don't like feet at the best of times but his looked disgusting due to diabetes, maybe they should start putting diabetes related photos on bags of sugar etc like they do with cigarettes.

I know a fat diabetic who has to inject himself with insulin.
He takes blood readings several times a day to check his sugar levels.
70 years of age and a complete physical wreck.
I know someone else who's 76 and a fit as a fiddle.

He was warned many years ago that he was heading for diabetes due to his overindulgence.
He couldn't care less, he said I'll eat what I like.

I asked him if he'd ever considered his diet in detail?
He says he was told to cut his drinking right down and avoid eating bananas due to their potassium content.

He's a good reflection of the NHS and mainstream medicine.

There's a good reason why so many diabetics are overweight.
When their insulin stops doing it's job in Stage 2, or not there in Stage 1,
The body doesn't get the signal that it's full after eating. So they're hungry all the time.
Hence the obese person who feels like they're starving.

Which is another warning sign for diabetes in normal people - they still feel hungry after eating due to insulin resistance.
