years ago my doctor said I have all the symptoms of IBS. in one conversation he said... do you eat a lot of potatoes? I said yes, but it's usually boiled. (thinking he meant chips), he said - try to cut them out.
i thought he was being sarcastic as i'm overweight. what's he got against potatoes? it stuck in my mind.
Like a cryptic clue. It was an odd conversation.
----------
i've been getting mad stomach pains, and have cut out a range of foods
trying to figure out what's been activating the pain.
i thought it was insoluble fibre - apple skins, potato skins, peppers, tomato skins etc.

in the past i could eat anything - my stomach has been a steel drum.
now I limit myself to a narrow range of veg.  i thought potato was safe if it was
mashed. (no skins)

yesterday i ate quite a bit of potato and i got the stomach pain . ffs.
so i looked it up.
knew it was in the deadly nightshade family but one IBS page gave an abundance of info
on yer innocent spud?
i have to say the spud is my mainstay food. chinese eat rice. scottish people mash and mince.

ezcema ?
dyslexia ?
attention deficit disorder?
hallucinations ?
stomach cramps ?
skin disorders ?
on and on?

the neutral potato ? something i eat regularly may be my enemy?
i may not have IBS, they say on the page... cut out the spuds.

Spuds, rapeseed oil, chicken, milk, wheat, corn, soya, sugar, fructose, GM crops, chlorinated water, mercury fillings in our teeth. Diesel and petrol fumes, pollen.

Is there anything that doesn't make us ill?

Actually I think a lot of your theories are a bit out there but I'm up for this one.

Potatoes are a member of the nightshade family and they (along with tomatoes) are often recommended as something to avoid if people are havign certain issues, IBS, certain skin conditions etc. Peppers are also in there.
Quick google brings up say:

i used to eat raw peppers and now any any tiny amount tortures me?
I seen something recently about vegetable oil which is Rapeseed oil?
(casemoney) A video on youtube?  they definitely was against any use
of it. I can't remember what it was - but it was very anti veg oil.

i think the only food left that is safe is Maltesers ?

Shouldn't we be guided by what we can eat as naturally as possible.

i.e. we can't eat potatotoes without cooking them, we can't eat wheat without making it into bread, we have to make dairy products etc etc
so much of our food is now processed.

If we stuck to eating stuff we didn't have to cook, or certainly 'process' we would certainly be better off.

Might be a bit boring though.

Zorro - it's god's will. He has chosen you to have IBS. Just accept it.
