Loads of barbecue  carp, and decking tiles, clogging up the entrance to the Supermarket
Lots of Salad stuff on sale at reduced/half price
Lots of Garden Table and chairs adverts on TV.

It will all be in a skip somewhere shortly.
------------------

This Evening and Tonight:

Blustery showers will continue across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Elsewhere, strong winds and rain, heavy in places, will move eastwards across England and Wales, clearing all but the far southeast by dawn.

Saturday:

Bright start for many, but rain returning to the far south and becoming heavy and persistent. Elsewhere, sunshine and showers these heavy and blustery in the north

Sunday:

Remaining unsettled with frequent heavy showers on Sunday with a risk of thunder

This may not apply everywhere, but this is a well known Sussex phenomenon.  This is the first week of the School holidays (Not Public Schools, they have had two bad weeks already) and the weather is almost invariably terrible, and this lasts until Goodwood week which thankfully is next week, so all will then be well.

onlooker, You're a cracking poster on these pages, nevertheless the glass seems too often half empty!
I live in central England for my troubles and reckon for a decade have never seen such midsummer grey leaden skies.

The scenario appears to be persisting -

- or, in today's case - persisting down.

We've had about three weeks of clear blue skies and temps over 20c. Sydney winter. Best time of the year.

27c in Sydney this week in the middle of 'winter' ,although there is no such thing as winter there of course.

as far as UK is concerned you have to take the year as whole  as there are no defined seasons apart from the 4 month winter  which doesn't vary much from Early Nov to late Feb  with standard 8c temperatures.

you can't expect 3 months of solid decent weather  just because someone has named three months as 'summer'
summer falls over a 7 month period (depending on location ) in  bits and pieces

so it depends on where you are - in Portsmouth you will get TWICE as much sun as  you would in parts of Scotland . some areas of the north west of England get THREE times more rain than parts of East Anglia

So get to know your averages so you won't be too disappointed . This year is on course ,but still slightly below -but there has still been tons of sunny warm days this year .

This cloudy/wet  spell seems to be a feature  generally for the UK  in August these days  -it's 32-36c in Prague lmao

It will probably be a  very nice Sept as someone mentioned

My boy lived in London for 18 months from 2015. Absolutely loved it except for the weather. Diabolical.

It has been the most miserable Summer that I can remember and there is no signs of things getting better. There is a lovely lido near me which I would always spend several days at in July and August in the past, this year I've been once. Roll on September when I'll be in Spain for a few weeks sinking a few cold ones on the beach.

Why are Australians generally so antagonistic lol ? One in the pub Saturday trying to get peoples feathers ruffled .

I've got a Merc - why are you so happy with your VW Golf ,it's not as good ?
If Lybertine likes cloudy cool conditions so be it ?  a lot of folk  like freezing cold winters ,some like hot ,sunny .

I prefer coolish 23c summers myself with a 50/50 cloud /sun mix.

While this is cooler than normal, I would much rather be here than in 40 degree heat in southern Europe. Like Coachbuster, my ideal would be low twenties and some cloud cover.

I like it much hotter than that Foinavon, 32C-35C during the day would be perfect for me, as long as I'm near a beach for a swim having said that.
