Anyone know the difference between a schism and heresy?

Heresy had a number one hit

A schism is when two groups have a difference enough to make them divide.
Heresy is disagreeing with Zorrostrikes.

a schism is a disagreement about interpretation - take Catholic and protestants, anglican or methodist. they have their own values and went off in a tangent with it.

heresy - is complete antithesis of the subject. when you were perhaps part of the
group in the past?
Take Henry the eighth, all he wanted was male offspring. To do it he tore away from the church and made his own church to suit his ends. (that could be heresy) .
Or if you stood up in church and cried out - This is madness, Jesus was just a man and I need a beer, get me out of here. trying to tear believers away by false doctrine.

A schism is when you disagree with a religion and other people agree with you. A heresy is when you disagree with a religion and other people don't agree with you.

So a schism is 'heresy with mates'.

I'm doing the schism thing now - I believe in Pre tribulation Rapture.
other Christians believe Mid trib rapture or post trib rapture.
So that can cause friction.

while the atheists believe in utter nothingness. ( i liked this when i was an atheist )

you can be heretical without a schism, and have schism without being heretical.
