There's a great statue of Eric Morecambe in his namesake town with lights that activate as you approach.

As a kid many of our family holidays were spent in Morecambe. Stop offs at Skipton on the way there, and on the way home paddling in the river at Burley in Wharfedale followed by fish and chips at Harry Ramsdens.
Morecambe seemed a nice place to me in those days, is it decrepit now?

It's worth visiting if you are worried about low sperm counts

There's the Midland Hotel overlooking the bay. It's Art Deco with some Eric Gill artwork in the foyer, there's a nice bar there with great views at sunset. Handy for the Lake District too fyi. Happy

The Town has it's bad areas with a lot of poverty on show one side
contains a street taken up nearly entirely by one charity shop co.
It's a shadow of how it once was and it's still a single track rail
line to get to the town.

Nice views across the bay when the weather is clear.

The deaths 13 years ago of 23 Chinese cockle pickers who were searching for a "better life" has had a lasting effect on all those associated with the disaster in Morecambe Bay.

That's lifted from a 2014 BBC piece.

That hotel must have had a makeover Cooperman.
I was in it a few years back and the rooms were filthy.
We survived about 2 seconds in our room before leaving.
Ended up in an RAC recommended place across the road from it.

But you'd be just a short bus ride from the lovely city of Lancaster.

Blackpool.  I was in the north west a few years ago so had a look as I was up that way.  As I thought, it appeared nightmarish.  I wasn't surprised to later find out that there is a greater percentage of Blackpool residents on anti-depressants than anywhere else in the country.
