McDonalds down the road here in outer London has installed touch screens.

Drive-through service is slower too so I guess either they've got rid of some of the kitchen staff or they are not cooking so much stuff in advance (or both).

But yes, the march of robots is coming with or without minimum wages, which is why people are starting to float daft-sounding ideas like taxing robots.

What are we going to do with all that cheap labour and their families we've been importing the last couple of decades, 6 million is it?

This degredation of the workforce doesnt come from overpaying those that do the work, its the result of people wanting to be rewarded for NOT doing the work in the form of ROI and capital investments, derivatives and stock return dividends.

Companies dont hire people for the good of the community, they do so to make more out of their output than they pay them.
Essentially profiting off the backs of others.

Whatever you do please don't remind my employers of this, I'd be fhooked.

You are all mugs - the wages have been suppressed since the seventies.
When we went off the GOLD standard. CEO's of companies used to be 20 times
what their lowest paid employees made it's now 300 times. They take shares
in the companies and strip mine them. That's why so many companies fold.
It should be £20 an hour. The food has been raised with inflation.
Which is not what they say it is at? It's massively higher.

They are printing money - quantitative easing. This is criminal. Really.
It is criminal, If I did it it would be forgery. They are undermining the
economy.(digging under your house, your factories, undermining)

MUGS.

the next stage is they get rid of all cash, which is planned by 2020.

Touch screen ordering/payment appearing more and more in fast food joints, within a few years most major retailers and supermarkets will collect the majority of their payments through these no doubt, lots of jobs in this sector will be lost, the writing's on the wall.
Report blank July 24, 2017 4:36 PM BST
Also a lot of workers doing skilled physical or stressful jobs at just above £10ph will be ready quit for supermarket jobs if there's still any about.

Professor Mark J Perry ( Wisconsin ) does a nice Venn diagram which says in Bubble 1:
People who strongly support the rights of two adults to engage in consensual relationships that might include sex, cohabiting, marrying, starting a business, or buying a property together.
Bubble 2 says: People who strongly object to consensual relationships between two adults that involve mutually beneficial agreements for employment at a mutually agreed upon wage below some government-mandated minimum
And the two bubbles almost completely overlap.

When I hit my 60s I expect my value to an employer to reduce to around £5/hour. So it will be illegal to hire me, even if consent is given. Lefties have done this. To me it is no coincidence that the world's 4 happiest countries ( SWI, NOR, ICE and DEN ) do not have a national minimum wage.
