No one forced them to sign their contracts.

They thought they were on a cushy number reading autocues for £k's a week, now throwing a strop because others negotiated more Crazy

not for me but I could think of millions of people switching on because the likes of lineker, ant and dec,top gear lads, etc but struggle to think of a female who,d attract audiences to a show, balding,s held up as anm example but she makes your genuine sports fan reach for the mute
Report scandanavian_haven July 21, 2017 1:45 PM BST
what's wrong with wanting the same money for doing the same job ?
Report 1st time poster July 21, 2017 2:42 PM BST
there not doing the same job who,s the female equivalent of lineker, evans, top gear mob, unless your blonde with page 3 model looks the chances of getting a spot on sky news are slim, should men complain
Report saddo July 21, 2017 2:47 PM BST
Scandy, there is no going rate for any of these jobs, how can they get 'the same'? Many tradesmen out there on varying rates for doing the same job, they won't all be of equal talent and some will get less than others.
Report maleuk01. July 21, 2017 3:14 PM BST
No one forces them to sign the contracts. If they are not happy don't sign look elsewhere. But they wouldn't get such a cushy number as at the BBC.

As mentioned they haven't got the same pulling power to audiences as the men they are claiming to want the same pay.

I guarantee I could get better presenters than anyone on the BBC list (male and female) for half or less than what any of them are on.
Report Mick Sturbs July 21, 2017 3:30 PM BST
If you do the same job as someone of the opposite sex and the only difference between you is your gender you have the right to be paid the same as them
You also have the right to the same pay if you do a job of equal value.Lots of councils have been successfully sued  by school dinner ladies by comparing themselves to dustmen who get up to 40% more despite doing a job of equal value
Report Ramruma July 21, 2017 3:59 PM BST
It would be interesting to see the full list. It is possible there are two separate reasons for women being paid less than men. One is the straightforward reason they just get less for doing the same job, but it also looks like they are less likely to get the star roles that bring in the very top money. Most programmes are still led by men.
Report saddo July 21, 2017 4:05 PM BST
Mick sturbs, equal value is difficult to quantify. I wonder how many ladies have left the dinnering business to go on the bins for the extra money.
Report scandanavian_haven July 21, 2017 4:13 PM BST
If a man and a women newsreader do the same job, work the same hours, they should be paid the same, not sure why this bothers people and why they can't accept it, it's not the stone age anymore and your manliness if not affected.
Report moisok July 21, 2017 4:16 PM BST
'stone age' resonates here - I wonder what the cult's view is of this?
Report 1st time poster July 21, 2017 4:23 PM BST
so pro women footballers or even every male pro at barca for example are entitled to the same wages as messi as they all kick a ball about
Report saddo July 21, 2017 4:26 PM BST
It would appear so.
Report saddo July 21, 2017 4:27 PM BST
In tennis they get the same money for less work, what will happen there?
Report 1st time poster July 21, 2017 4:29 PM BST
of course people are brainwashed into asking and answering all sorts of pc questions and answering with buzzwords at interviews, and its considered ignorant to ask what the wage ie
Report scandanavian_haven July 21, 2017 4:32 PM BST
honestly I don't know why I bother, you're insulting your own intelligence let alone anyone elses, people have compared newsreaders to tradesman and now footballers.

They are different industries, we are talking about the BBC, and a man and a women should obviously be paid the same for reading the news/interviewing guests.

independent Tradespeople come with reputations and the best ones, the most sought after usually cost the most and you get what you pay for male of female, women's football does not generate the same revenue as men's football, this is reflected in income from ticket sales, merchandise, promotional tours etc, it's not even comparable to what we're talking about.

There is literally no argument to be had about male/females being paid equally for presenting the news, it's just alpha males who still think women belong in the kitchen who are of a certain age that just can't get their heads around equality.
Report saddo July 21, 2017 4:36 PM BST
I wouldn't pay any of em more than the Prime Minister, male or female. Advertise the posts with stated remuneration and take the best who apply, there'd be plenty.
Report 1st time poster July 21, 2017 4:36 PM BST
so why no mention of other male presenters who unlike their women counterparts do actualy present football programmes the same as lineker MOTD 2 ETC,getting the same wages as lineker
Report 1st time poster July 21, 2017 4:37 PM BST
havnt heard any female presenters crying about getting less than clare balding for excample
Report Arleystation July 21, 2017 4:58 PM BST

Totally agree. Will the males in this example have their salaries reduced to match their female equivalents? No chance and neither will the female salaries be increased.

The BBC always parrot on about equality and diversity yet display the utmost hypocrisy.

There's a comparison attempted between Laura Kuenssberg, the BBC political editor and Eddie Mair on Radio 4. He earns more than her.

He joined the BBC in '87, she joined in 2000. And yet people say they should be paid the same???

Whenever Clare Balding presents anything I immediately turn off and watch an old episode of Porridge or Minder or suchlike instead.

not a great fan of line acre but he presents motd as though he,s talking to your dedicated footie fanm where as if balding for example did it ,she presents it as though someones watching football for the 1st time imo, fairly obvious even to the equality loons on here that lineacre as an ex pro at the top level ,brings something to motd that a lady presenter couldn't bring,FFS what would happen if there was an offside goal, Laugh
