I would recommend working for yourself unless you really enjoy your job or are very well paid.

I had an office job for years and it almost drove me insane. The politics, backstabbing, the ar$e-licking and schmoozing, teambuilding events...

My mates have jokingly said about me being an escort ha. I'm currently a baker and have been doing it for 5 plus years now.
Just had enough now of the 4/5 am starts and want to do something totally different. I'm not stupid so hoping to find something decent.
Quite good at chatting with people and socialising etc. Would love my own business etc Nick but like to be around people(women) Silly
Just no idea right now of what i'd like to do. Oh and yes i am a master baker before anyone throws that one at me Grin

Good point - the workplace does provide an opportunity to meet people.

If you want something decent, you might have to ger some qualifications.

True Nick but was hoping for some on the job training etc. Just seen one for a trainee recruitment consultant that i reckon i'd be
good at. Just need to get to the interview stage and charm the life out of whoever hosts it Silly

Open your own shop. Being self employed will change your whole perspective. Happy

Work for yourself.  It's a lot more hassle and you'll work more hours but it is very much more rewarding.

What would you suggest i did lybertyne?

That is the hardest question and only you can answer that.  Start by looking at your interests/skills.  I was inspired by something I saw on the Apprentice.  It's something I would never have dreamed I'd be doing beforehand.

I would never accept a job from someone willing to employ me. Plain

You haven't said what you are doing at the moment, nor what is your age!

From your user name, I'm guessing you are 34, and you need to get sorted asap.

You have to ask yourself if you just want a job, where you swap and change, or a career which will support you as old age becomes inevitable!

I went self employed in '82, as I realised I was too busy working to make any real money.

If you can afford to, take time out to learn a trade. Good plumbers, electricians, decorators, car mechanics etc, are always busy if they are good.

If you prefer a "white collar" job look at financial advisor opportunities.

The good news here is that not only can you make a substantial income, but you continue to be paid on retirement, on a percentage
of every clients renewal anniversary!

Look for something with the local council, where there are many opportunities for advancement if you are outstanding in your current roll.

Either way, just keep your head down, and soldier on to a generous pension on retirement.

I think a few of the lads in the racing forum will book you as an escort so maybe do it part time at first.

Make a few quid here and there trading the cricket and dabbling on the nags.
My typical day at the minute is work 5am till 1. Watch the afternoon racing/ early evening cricket.
Start drinking at 5pm and attempt to get a tinder bird around by 9. Beat sleep repeat.
Not a bad life but time to grow up and settle down now.
