'ahead of' particularly on sports news
Means the event they are talking about hasn't happened yet.
How interesting or important is that?
While I am on the subject, channels such as Talksport believing that opinions of biased ex-footballers who retired 20 years ago is NEWS.

A supercilious smile is a particularly annoying expression!
"AMAZING", this is everywhere, the funny thing the subject is it more often than not quite trite, x factor must shoulder a lot of the blame.
"take care", about 75% falsely used,it is just a bad goodbye.

anybody who staes during a sentence " at the end of the day" needs shooting in the face
^ A chavvy pseudo intellectual phrase that one, good choice,
A sock o' shoite across the puss would be another apt punishment til they desist from use may also work, who would drive the white vans?

Would of.
Could of.
Should of.
All the above the indicators of a moron.
"Ahead of". What's wrong with "Before"?
Affect instead of effect and vice versa.
"Let me be clear". Clear indication the answer won't be.

Slightly off topic but the Americanisation (note no zed, despite my browser insisting) of this country literally makes me want to puke up.
Just been in a sandwich shop for my lunch and on the electronic menu board was this:
"Lemon and Herb Chicken with Wild Rice and Slaw: lose the Rice -Double Slaw". (their capitals).
I felt like chewing off my own arms!

Surely you can take out a dozen such annoying phrases/expressions(whatever the difference) from cricket commentary? They still use the same ones over and over again.
That one had 4 written all over it.
Right off the meat of the bat.
Timed to perfection
that went like a tracer bullet...

I despise being called mate by:
Anyone trying to assert a point
Anyone that doesn't know me
My daughter's boyfriends
Actually - any time at all really.

My daughter's boyfriends.. tbh, they dont even need to speak...
Been there...........................
So many people say it now you only have to say the first two words.

I have a cousin who is widely known as Cliché Kim because every conversation is liberally peppered with 'basically', 'know what I mean' and 'at the end of the day', amongst others.
I call every fecker on the planet mate. Sorry i cant help it, mate.
"To be like" instead of "to say".
E.g. "He was like, 'OMG!' and I was like, 'Tell me about it!'"
E.g. "He was like, 'OMG!' and I was like, 'Tell me about it!'"
"A black hole" when you mean "a hole".

From the get go...what's wrong with From the start.
There are people who genuinely believe the phrase is "from the gecko".
"Dead cert" and "fill your boots" are shocking omissions.
"Can I get a...???" is starting to annoy me.
Regarding earlier American comments, it's more spelling that irks me over that. The amount of times I see center rather than centre...!!!

let me get back to you
Indeed Donny Osmond, along with it's variant "Leave it with me..."
Having dealt with office staff over the the years, the phrase "Send me an e-mail." is often met with disappointment. In other words you can make some excuse about priorities/deletion and avoid the issue 6 months later.
" The fact of the matter is" must be the most annoying.
"Your favourite is..." when referring to a horse/any type of race.
he "turned round and said"
why do they always turn round to speak???

Blue sky thinking.
Thinking out of the box.
I hear what you are saying.
'with respect'

Re cricket, when did they start using the phrase 'maximum'.
FFS it's a lot quicker and easier to say 'six'.

It's a vicious circle memorably changed to "it's a vicious circus" by a work colleague who was not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
American police/military who establish visual contact.
(before they shoot them).
(before they shoot them).
I have a terrible habit of finishing a sentence with "You know"
'Literally', as in, she was like literally throwing a wobbler; or, it was literally an eye-opener.
"absolutely" instead of "yes"
"actually" peppering every sentence on the radio
"obviously" when something is far from so. A sign of a nervous speaker imo.
