There could be larger organisms, shrimp-like and then perhaps fish-like, creating an ecosystem. The simplicity of the organsims, however, doesn't matter. If life is found to have begun independently on a body away from the Earth then it can/will have begun throughout the Universe.

Some (including SFBTW on here) would reject that. They would argue that life found elsewhere but within our solar system will have the same origin as that here on Earth.

That remains to be seen and if, as hoped, some form of life is found it could answer some important questions. Prokaryotic cells developed very soon after the earth cooled sufficiently to carry liquid water but it took billions of years more for eukaryotes to appear so the probability of finding multicellular organisms is orders of magnitude less than the probability of finding archaea or bacteria like life forms.
