The UK by approx. 500 miles.

Dr Aristotle Slicer
Emeritus Professor of Geomography
North Southeast Mumbai University
Report Foinavon July 4, 2017 4:17 PM BST
We are fortunate to have the expert opinion of the eminently erudite Emeritus Professor.
Report Slicer July 4, 2017 4:20 PM BST
I agree with you Mr Foinavon!
Report mecca July 4, 2017 4:41 PM BST
Oh dear ..... Not the answer that I was hoping for.
Report lybertyne July 4, 2017 4:44 PM BST
Any North Korean missile would never get through the defence systems.  If it looked like it was heading towards us, the Yanks or the Japanese it would be destroyed in flight.  The most they can do is to keep on attacking the poor sea.
Report Slicer July 4, 2017 4:46 PM BST
Don't worry Mr Mecca. If NK send one over, it will trigger a nuclear war and all our trouble will be over. If Corbyn is PM, we won't even retaliate. But it won't make any difference.
Report Slicer July 4, 2017 4:47 PM BST
But if we buy the Iron Dome from Israel, well then that is a different matter altogether!
Report Foinavon July 4, 2017 4:55 PM BST
Our alien friends, the Lizard people, will activate a secret force field over the entire UK and nothing will get through. Don't speak of this outside of this forum, it would be most unwise.

Don't worry, my post is invisible to all those who do not need to know.

Yeah, I go a long time without seeing my post as well, thieving basturts.

Actually N Korea is considerably closer to the USA than the UK.
Not just Hawaii and Alaska, but the mainland too.
Report johnizere July 4, 2017 10:34 PM BST
Studyform, if Dr. Slicer says we are closer than the USA to NK, then we are closer.
He didn't get where he is by being wrong.
An Emeritus Professor of Geomography shouldn't be questioned after giving his answer.

Pyongyang, North Korea - Anchorage, AK, United States = 3731.201 miles
Pyongyang, North Korea - Honolulu, HI, United States = 4598.632 miles
Pyongyang, North Korea - London = 5389.718 miles
Pyongyang, North Korea - Los Angeles, CA, United States = 5946.737 miles
Report Clouseau July 4, 2017 10:43 PM BST
According to the map of the World on my wall North Korea would have to shoot a missile over China, Kazakhstan. Russia and a load of European Countries to target the UK.

To target the USA it would have to do the same then cross the Atlantic as well.

I think this case is closed... by about 7000 miles. Cool
Report johnizere July 4, 2017 10:45 PM BST
Exactly. Thankyou Clouseau.
Report scandanavian_haven July 4, 2017 10:53 PM BST
America is closer as the crow flies that's the questions

China couldn't stop it in time if they tried but wouldn't attempt to anyway.
Report Clouseau July 4, 2017 11:17 PM BST
A crow is very unlikely to fly that distance. They tend to stay near their territory and are not a migratory bird.

Your argument is. therefore, fallacious. Mischief
Report The Leopard July 4, 2017 11:17 PM BST
I predict a pre-emptive strike on North Korea.....they would not react as that would mean the ruling junta's annihilation.

Pyongyang to Seattle 5,134 Miles.

Norwithstanding the fact that the most effective and shortest route is via the Great circle, not on a land map.
So, as I said it's nearer the USA
Report STUDYFORM July 5, 2017 12:45 AM BST
Also Pyongyang is in the west of North Korea, there is about 300 more miles of North Korea to the east of Pyongyang.
assuming you can appreciate that the earth is actually round, 'over the top' isn't necessary. Across the north Pacific will do.
Report akabula July 5, 2017 1:06 AM BST
All the mad loon has is a missile that may be capable of reaching the UK or the US.
What he doesn't have is a nuclear warhead for it. I think for the time being we are safe.
Although with Donald at the other end and trigger happy you never know.
Report STUDYFORM July 5, 2017 1:07 AM BST
I just did a great circle calculation.
Chongjin to Seattle (which is about 50 miles inland, btw) 4815 miles.
Report STUDYFORM July 5, 2017 1:10 AM BST
Sorry make that 4855
Report zorrostrikes July 5, 2017 4:40 AM BST
Korea firing from mobile trucks, no need to spend 200 billion on submarines?

recap we have about 40 missiles - when the USA has many thousands, russians thousands.

will the USA ring up and tell us they need our forty? will they FK.
it's pretty irrelevant.

it's the cash someone needs. a pretty gold coin due every thirty years.
