The mass movement of people from North Africa to Southern Europe was predicted over 30 years ago and there is no reason it will stop.

'Rescued' is a word used to make you and me feel better about the whole operation(Just like liberation instead of invasion and democracy instead of our chosen leader). There was an event about a month and a half ago where the Italian NGOs were fired at by Libyan coastguards but they still managed to 'rescue' a bunch of libyans and brought them to Italy. That's how desperate they are in bringing these people to Europe. Also worth noting is that the Libyan coastguard is funded AND armed by the EU(interestingly, also to help stop illegal migrants 
). Basically EU is completely in control of this operation.
