I used to drink a lot in the Purple Turtle, old and new sites, and tbf that is pretty par for the course for the clientelle there. He'd probably forgotten about it by the time he got through the door.

First job after uni was in Henley so lived in Reading prep83, when the PT was on the other side of the river/canal/wet thing that goes through Reading. Went back a few times to the new one as well, didn't even know that had a garden, it's never really been for lovers of the great outdoors.

I think that fact he heard the bus coming lastminute.com allowed him to momentarily brace himself for the impact, I think that at least helped to save his life. That is a dude though
