One of my personal 'faves' was the couple of kids in America who were p1ssing around with a can of petrol in the kitchen of one of their houses.
They poured the fuel into the cap and attempted to light it. They couldn't see the invisible flame and assumed it wouldn't ignite and so put the cap back on the bottle, and the house went up....and I don't mean in price. |

saw this on the history chanel -
The Texas City disaster was an industrial accident that occurred April 16, 1947, in the Port of Texas City. It was the deadliest industrial accident in U.S. history, and one of the largest non-nuclear explosions. Originating with a mid-morning fire on board the French-registered vessel SS Grandcamp (docked in the port), her cargo of approximately 2,200 tons (approximately 2,100 metric tons) of ammonium nitrate detonated,[1] with the initial blast and subsequent chain-reaction of further fires and explosions in other ships and nearby oil-storage facilities. It killed at least 581 people, including all but one member of the Texas City fire department. |

There was a huge explosion in china I think it was only the other year that wiped out a mid sized town.
Another in Europe where a freight train ploughed into a gas storage facility I think and the train was carrying liquid gas, or something like that. |

There is a video on the internet where a group of kids put a mouse's tail on fire and the mouse runs into their house and in no time the whole house is on fire. Dont know if its real though. Looked real as it was all in one shot.

I remember a court case where an arsonist poured petrol around this house then, not realising that the vapour coming off it in a confined space is highly flammable, lit a ****... kaboom!

There was also a train accident in Pakistan some years ago where not two but 3 trains were running on one track and all 3 collided at the next station.

In my few years in Africa decades ago I always read the local newspaper for the amazing stories.
Bus driver with full load of passengers raced a train to a railway crossing. It did not end well. At a construction site two drivers got into an argument about which vehicle was stronger. They had a face off, dump truck against bulldozer. It was a draw, but they were unavailable for the replay. Security guard machine gunned the driver of a cash shipment he was protecting. The police did nothing for a week then went to his rural village where he had just arrived with loads of money. Police arrested a man walking down a city street. The man was wearing a new suit. The police identified the material as army officer uniform material. An aircraft had crashed months before and the wreck was looted, including a shipment of cloth. Thinking things through not a strong point. |

PAKISTAN —
Alerted by an announcement over a mosque’s loudspeaker that an overturned tanker truck had sprung a leak, scores of villagers raced to the scene with fuel containers Sunday to gather the oil. Then the wreck exploded. |
