Voting has become tribal in some areas, which is very worrying. The current Labour leadership want to do Britain harm.

Diane Abbott was the only candidate standing for the Labour Party in her constituency. That's how it happened. It's the system. Tory voters in Maidenhead faced the same dilemma.

some posters are obsessed with abbott she is always on their mind dominating their every waking thought

do they read those papers or write for them ?

Who did you expect them to vote for.

There are indeed some strange folk around, that's for sure.
Naming no names, but we even had one forumite on here whose professed love of 'refugees' (i.e Economic Migrants) was so strong he pretended that he would be offering his lovely village home to them. Apparently it was 'the only moral and humanitarian thing to do'. Anyone who didn't was dismissed as 'narrow'. That would cover 99.99% of the British public, including I guess some of those who voted for Abbott/Labour. |

democracy alun, suck it up

I fully accept the verdict of the electorate thanks. I find it's generally only the left-leaning who won't or want to re-run elections or major democratic exercises (e.g. 2015 General Election, 2016 EU Referendum, 2016 US Presidential Election, 2017 UK General Election).

Lots of Labour mps in safe constiuencies increased their majorities
|
|
By:
The tories are reduced to this sort of nonsense because they thought Chairman May was going to get a 50- 100 + majority
|
|
By:
Donny - because as I said in the title, I think that particular result is a staggering one, and can think of no other that matches it. There's absolutely no logical explanation for it that I can see. A vastly reduced majority should surely have been the most likely outcome.

Diane Abbott is a high profile MP. She represents the Labour front bench.
Do people think that seeing her on the television getting into mess every time she is put on the spot, is good for the Labour vote or bad for the Labour vote? Yet it seems like it wouldn't matter to Labour voters whether she could even read and write. As long as they think she's on their side, and not a Tory. |

It was amusing to see rentamob protesting about Mrs May remaining in office and at the same time claiming that Corbyn had won. They can't grasp that 316 is more than 263.

By:
Tory supporters in 2010: Cameron is the greatest leader we ever have had, he will be in power longer than Thatcher etc etc (308 seats)
Tory supporters in 2017: May is a dead woman walking, should resign immediately, worst Tory leader ever (318 seats) Labour supporters in 2010: Brown is a disaster, never wanted him as leader etc etc (258 seats) Labour supporters in 2017: We won the election, Jeremy Corbyn should be PM, what a result etc etc (262 seats) 7 years is a long time in politics ![]() |

The Welsh Tory fuming again. It must be lonely in the valleys.

Good post Fred.
|
|
By:
Jack Straw was interviewed on the BBC and was explaining
in great detail to the clearly thick viewers (in his eyes) as to why the Conservatives had lost the election - his words no mine. None of the BBC people present queried that idea. Obviously, some of them cannot count. 318-263! |
|

Let your mam do the posting next time.

The Tory's over estimated the GBP. Plus they should have held the election in May when students are doing their exams. Not when they are celebrating their exams finishing and are letting alcohol lead their decision making.

having a 7 week campaign was a ludicrous decision. allowed may's faults to be laid bare over an extended period and corbyn to gather momentum. should have been 4 weeks at most

London doesn't like racism, they voted against it in Hackney. This is what happened.

Fred sums up politics; a joke.
I would add that Labour voters are giving it large to the 'right wing press' for villifying Corbyn. Little mention of the 170 MPs who signed a vote of no confidence in JC nor the panic when he was first elected. Furthermore, The hatred of JC came from within his own party over the last 30 years when NO leader ever gave him a job. |

30 years an mp for diane abbott, and hes surprised she won, and increasedlher majority
and this is a betting site sharp minds |
|
By:
The reason she won is she is one of the people going around in her £53,000 Mercedes. Up the workers

Do peeps vote for local MPs or for the party they want to govern?
If I was a Lab voter in that part of London I would have stayed at home. DA as Shadow HM was embarrassing. She didn't know her considerable arse from her elbow. |
|
By:
most people wouldn't have clue who their MP was. you vote for the leader or the party
|
|
By:
A large chunk of the electorate has been dumbed down to the sub-moronic level by the 'education' system and the media.
Thank goodness that many of the same don't actually bother to vote -things might be worse again. |
|
By:
If Labour get in they will reduce the voting age to 16.

Is democracy really enhanced by allowing the prime minister to hide from the electorate? |
