Tories ditch May and replace her with David Davis. What do you think the result would be in a new GE and why?

The last couple of times there was a hung parliament - 1910 + 1974 - there was another election later in the year and they both produced near enough the same result

Good knowledge, thank you. Did they feature the same leaders in place?

1910 yes i think was Asquith and Balfour , pretty much the same numbers both times

In 1974 Heath resigned as couldn't do a deal with Libs , Wilson took over with a Labour minority , called another election 8 months later and won a tiny majority (which was lost within a couple of years due to by elections)

Assuming David Davies is elected leader and Corby remains in place I can see a swing back to the Tories as long as DD mends the damage done by May over her manifesto.
It would need to be less about cuts and more about growth. I also think Corbyn is unelectable and only got this 'result' because of how bad Mays campaign was.

Hypothetically I would ditch May: she's damaged goods with zero credibility and her one chance to rescue things by showing a bit of humility since her defeat (and let's face it, it was 'her' given the Presidential style of campaigning), she misjudged it once again.

If I were in the 1922 Committee, I'd forget all about the old grey men and women and agitate for a young, dynamic leader who can galvanise both the party and the country, who will listen, who is decisive and who has genuinely led a team, rather than just talked platitudes about being a leader.

I've always been impressed by Tom Tugendhat whenever he's featured in the media. Him plus a manifesto focusing on One Nation policies and I might even be tempted to break the habit of a lifetime and vote for them.

I wouldn't be too concerned about these little scuffles - there is much more waiting down the line.

May will be gone within a month. A new leader will be appointed, Davis or Johnson and then an election maybe November, probably March next year.

She is untrustworthy and put of her depth.
