Well, I'd like to retain the right to choose for myself what I get outraged by, or has Theresa taken that right away already?

Two poor attempts at political point scoring, wrapped up in faux concern for recent events.

Faux concern.

Are you trying to get me to say something rude so I get myself banned? Hopefully, the mods don't remove your post so everyone can see what a nasty piece of work you are.

There are a lot of positives here. People need to realize a minute's silence does not honor anyone. Are the london victims less honorable now that the saudis didn't make a line in their honor? No. All this stupid practice achieves is spread more awareness about IS. Free publicity for them. The governments continue to refuse to take any concrete steps and still are in bed with the wrong people, yet we are supposed to be p1ssed about a football team that didn't stand in a line?

Maybe the saudi players didn't speak English? Maybe they thought standing where they were instead of in a line was not disrespectful at all? Even if they did it on purpose, they are our best muslim allies. We ren't going to stop supplying them weapons just because of this. As usual, the media trying to spread nonsense. I'll feel better if people feel offended at two thirds of UK weapons exports going to the Middle East. But of course that is no offensice at all, not standing in a line in a minute of silence is.

Why would they remove it porkypine? Your shabby attempt at diverting attention from Islamic terror, to the hapless EDL in Liverpool, is still there.

Diverting now?

You do realise that the two can be exclusive? You can be against terrorism and not pro-EDL.

Detraveller - disagree completely. The players will have been informed beforehand about the plans. This was just disrespectful to people who've died and their families. They don't have to break down in tears, but there's no harm in standing still and keeping quiet for a few seconds. This was just deliberately disrespectful imo.

By the way people, I encourage you to google the video of the EDL being escorted back up the road while the Benny Hill theme blasts over the tannoys from last weekend. I think they know they're not welcome back now.

Sorry but concrete steps are needed at this moment and the best we have managed is crap like we are strong, we will not be defeated, minutes of silence and similar stuff.

I wasn't trying to justify their behavior. I'm just saying, it shouldn't really bother anyone if people of a certain nationality did not stand up in a soccer game. Why does it matter?

Imagine if you had to stand up everytime a bomb went off in the middle east. If you refused to do it, would that make the victoms less honorable? Do you think a father who just lost his son to a bomb blast cares if a few people did not stand hand in hand?

Or let me completely chagne my stance and say, it was disgusting and disrespectful. And I am absolutely shocked at their behavior. What then? Does that solve the problem in our streets? Does that stop people from bombing our cities? My question to you is, when people on your streets are dying, do you care about 11 guys who did not stand up in honor of your fellows thousands of miles away or would you rather work to solve the problems at home?

An Islamic imam has suggested the Saudi Arabian team refused to take part in a minute's silence for the London terror victims because they believe 'it is not a sin for a Muslim to kill a non-believer'.

Sheikh Mohammad Tawhidi says it is a 'lie' to say the Muslim culture does not remember the dead with a moment of silence, and instead argues the football team did not partake in the mourning because they stand with the jihadist men.

'They did not stop for a moment of silence because according to Wahhabi Islam - which governs Saudi Arabia - it is not wrong or a sin for a Muslim to kill a non-Muslim,' he told Daily Mail Australia.
Report donny osmond • June 8, 2017 4:06 PM BST
surely it is about respect, not sin
Report PorcupineorPineapple • June 8, 2017 4:08 PM BST
Detraveller - I think there's a difference between thinking something's pointless and refusing to do it, knowing full well it'll be noticed. Minimal effort to stand still for one minute. No one would have mentioned it. But by not doing it it's now news. At best, it's extremely careless. At very best.

The Saudi football team understand jihad. We don't.

They also understand that obeying Mohammed's call to 'go to where death is most likely' is more important than a minute's silence.

We don't.

Until we accept Mohammed calls his followers to kill and be killed we're making no progress (apart from singing songs and blaming the internet...)

In a statement, the FFA explained: "The FFA sought agreement from the Asian Football Confederation and the Saudi national team to hold a minute's silence in memory of those lost in Saturday night's terror bombings in London and in particular the two Australian women," a spokesman said.

"Both the AFC and the Saudi team agreed that the minute of silence could be held.

"The FFA was further advised by Saudi team officials that this tradition was not in keeping with Saudi culture and they would move to their side of the field and respect our custom whilst taking their own positions on the field.

"The local broadcaster, Fox Sports, was informed of this prior to the minute's silence taking place."

We need to start voting for nationalistic political parties and ignore the media propaganda.
They demonise every movement that tries to get started. Look at the rough ride they gave UKIP at the last election.
We only have ourselves to blame for being so stupid and listening to people who simply want to see us disorganised.

Pictures from as early as December last year show a Saudi Arabian football team observing a minute's silence ahead of a game - so why couldn't they show the same respect on Thursday night?

The club were playing a friendly match against Barcelona in Qatar when they paused before kick off to honour the memory of members of the Brazillian soccer team Chapecoense.

A photo shows the team standing with their heads bowed and their arms linked.

Today's Daily Mail.

Isn't this proof enough of the true nature of Islam? Killing infidels is clearly acceptable.

I still dont get what the fuss is about(and will probably be labelled a libtard or apologist for saying it)

Assuming that the Saudis did stand in line hand in hand for the minute's silence, would that have changed anything? Would that have made you feel safer the next time you went out on the street? Would that have increased the probability of your daughter returning home safely from a concert?

Or even a bigger question, if they really had done it, would you have accepted it as a sign that the saudis really feel bad about the dead?

I really don't get how people dont waste any opportunity to blame the muslims and their religion, yet when they do the very thing that one would expect them to do, you all get enraged.

And while you are all whining about how they disrespected your fellow citizens, your government continues to support the very people that killed these citizens. I would say that is way more disrespectful than what the saudis did. But you guys are still stuck at the football game!
Report bodil • June 8, 2017 10:20 PM BST
Funnily enough, this, frankly stupid stunt, may alert the majority to the Salafi poison that Saudi Arabia has been pumping out into the world for decades - they are the No 1 supporter of Islamic extremism.  Who knows - now the US is oil-sufficient thanks to fracking, they may dump Saudi and let them fight it out with Iran. Go Donald!
Report PorcupineorPineapple • June 8, 2017 11:07 PM BST
I think the key is: do they observe other silences. God knows, they'd be monks if they had to do one for every atrocity in that region. But do they show respect for other nastiness that are generally marked.

If they act like this all the time then fair enough (sort of), if not... Shower of...
