I've got one hired for the weekend.

Got a call from them the other day asking DL details and why I was hiring it, where I was going etc., which I have never been asked before (had their number in my contacts list so knew it was them).

I said "I think I know why you are asking these things" and the lad on the other end said it was to do with recent events. Nice lad.

If they'd only done that with the London Bridge twats.

Whats your reason for hiring this van?

Hiring a vehicle - through proper companies, might I add -  is very strict, nowadays.

Lots of identification
Have to obtain a CODE from the DVLA - which is only issued via your Driving Licence Number and Postcode ratification
Hire firm have to then check that code with the DVLA
Cannot pay Cash - Only  pay by card
Firms usually take a Photo of the hirer.

You may say - 'What if they are a dodgy firm, and don't bother'?

Well - the van will  have to be properly registered with the DVLA - otherwise it will be getting stopped every ten minutes by Number Plate recognition system.

If a non-properly hired van is then involved in an accident - or incident - then the van will  be traced via registration plate, and the hire company would/should have the book thrown at them.

I can hear the Snowflakes now.

"Boo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo, doing security checks on people hiring vehicles is Islamophobic. Someone call Baroness Whitewash of Chakrabarti quick. If a Peace-Loving person can't hire a vehicle and do what they want with it, that's racism that is".

But for a refusal for payment from his credit card the terrorists would have been in charge of a 7.5 tonne truck. Online booking. Something needs changing there.

It wouldnt surprise me if the majority of terrorists dont have terrible credit files.
It goes hand in glove....life failures, axe to grind.

It's irrelevant. Can go on auto trader and buy a second hand car/van for a few hundred quid cash

The London terrorists were useless. 3 people and 3, 5t vans loaded with flammablr/explosive material could easily kill 100+

It wouldnt surprise me if the majority of terrorists dont ACTUALLY USE THEIR OWN NAMES! Scared

Or just use one of several aliases. Why any country allows more than one identity is a mystery to me.

Would there be any guidance or 'best practice' documented in any Holy Texts re: the hiring of large multi-purpose vehicles for Peace-Loving operations?

One person.  One official name.  Don't like it?  Tough luck - you can call yourself by a nickname.  No deed poll changes.

One ID card.  Biometric.  NHS treatment or any benefits require same as proof.

Might end up with some idea how many people are in the country.

They don't want us to know how many,  it would cause shock waves. They'll be concentrating on fiddling the next census figures when they are finally forced to have one.
