they lost half of Egypt to Israel in 1967, several other territories, large swathes of land - jerusalem was kept from Jordan/Palestine. If they attack and lose that's what happens.
they gave back the land to Egypt. we have the Falklands, Malta, the victors keep what they want. |

I thought it was against Syria, Egypt and Jordan but I looked it up on Wiki and you're correct.
It was Israel against Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon; supported by Algeria, Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Pakistan, PLO, Sudan, Tunisia. Israel were heavily outnumbered in terms of troops, tanks and aircraft. Presumably they won due to superior tactics, training and technology? |

The Israeli Air Force were magnificent. Something to remember is that Israel may only lose once, and that will be it. Israel's enemies can lose many times. That is why Israel had better not ever lose a war, or that will cause a major problem for the rest of the world.

Slicer, I was going to add that a greater motivation was probably a major factor in Israel's victory in so much as they were fighting for their existence and as you say, cannot afford to lose any war.
As for the occupied territories, isn't that what happens when you win a war? You retain territory to act as a buffer against your enenies. Especially understandable for a narrow country like Israel. (I think just 11 miles wide at some points.) |

You are almost correct. It is what happens when the winner of a war retains territory- except for the unique exception Israel. For some reason it does not apply in this case. If anyone really can't guess the reason for this, I suggest you ask Jeremy Corbyn, Ken Livingstone and George Galloway for the answer!

Calendars repeat in a set pattern 1950 Calendar year is exactly the same as 1961, 1967, 1978, 1989, 1995, 2006, 2017, 2023, 2034, 2045 Nothing special. We also count to the arbitrary base 10 (fingers and thumbs) which makes you think 50 is a special number. It's no more special than any other number. Happy Birthday, by the way. Hope you make it something special.  |

every seven years is a schmitah year, 7X7 cycle the fiftieth year is called the JUBILEE year. It works either as a blessing or a curse on the Jews depending on their behaviour as a nation. 1517 Ottoman empire conquers Jerusalem, all the land called Palestine became a Turkish province. They lost the land to the British in 1917. 8 x50 years exactly. 8 jubilees. was not 402 years, it was 400 years exactly. 50 years onto 1917 and JERUSALEM was given back to Israel by the mistakes of the war waged on them by the 13 nations attacking them. The jubilee years are either the 17th year or the 67th year in the century. so 1516/17, 1566/17, 1616/17, 1666/67. etc. 120 jubilees were decreed - making it 6000 years to the harvest. The jews know that they have 6000 years, they've lost count, but God has the Jubilee year to point it out.
