Labour rallied in the betting markets overnight but that trend appears to have reversed this afternoon.

The polls claim labour are closing in on the conservatives but the market says otherwise.

Good afternoon, Ibrahima. I hope you are well, sir.

A Conservative majority certainly lengthened on the markets I frequent; all the way from 1/8 to 2/9 on last night's prices.  They're back out to 1/6 now.

Milliband lost 10%.

I assume Corbyn will lose more but I'm guessing. He has 232 at present.

Anything over 190 and I would be surprised. I feel questions over IRA, Hamas, Trident etc will be his undoing.

The confusion is the UKIP vote and where that goes. Does it stay at home or vote May. I feel many Labour voters may also stay at home.

The huge factor of Scotland has barely been mentioned in this election.

Labour has lost 55 seats in Scotland since the turn of the century.

In seats and swing terms that is massive and surely the main reason for Tory success past, present and future.
Yet I've barely heard this matter discussed.

There would still have been a Tory majority in 2015 if Labour had won all seats in Scotland and they ain't going to be winning those back soon.

That's why it's a non factor in this election.

All about English seats this time

There is a chance that there will be a hung parliament, or worse, a labour victory Sad

Corbyn has promised sweeties to nearly every section of the voters with his manifesto as opposed to theresa.  If you were an 18 year old going to university this autumn or the parents of one, wouldn't you even think about voting labour if that meant you didn't pay tuition fees and possibly get a maintenance grant?  And he has promised loads more, no zero hours contracts, workers rights, primary school dinners, free nursery school, no bedroom tax, treatment nhs guaranteed within 18 weeks, strike rules go back to 50% of votes cast, no employment tribunals fees, loads of housing help, benefit sanctions stopped, £2 limit for fixed odd machines, triple lock protected, retirement age stopped at 66 etc etc etc.  And there are loads more promises.

I am working class but the thought of jeremy corbyn who could only gain two 'E' level A levels at school and has barely had a normal job his whole life running this country gives me nightmares.  So I have entered into a win/win kind of situation.  I have bet over £100 on labour in various bets.  If theresa wins then I will be relieved and it will be the best loss I have ever had! Not happy because I think she is not up to much either.  But if the worst happens then I will have a win to slightly cheer me up.

I am even probably going to get more dollars as all my betting on poker is in dollars and if labour wins the rate will go down.  I have done this before at brexit and I was glad I did as the dollar rate has fallen 15%

ICM/Comres/Ashcroft are indeed weighted. They are the more 'intelligent' polls. Survation and Youguv are just LOL - online or phone people who talk but don't vote.

50-74 @6's for me

The 'weighting' of polls is what caused the polling fiascos with Brexit/Trump

Poll Results telling them Brexit is leading , Trump is leading ... 'oh that can't be right ,lets adjust the data... Cry

Grin I'll lose nearly 2 Grand if Labour win. I would normally prefer a labour Govt, but I'd rather not lose 2K.

Just to clarify that the over £100 I have spent on election bets are mainly on 'no overall majority' and small bets on labour win and most seats.

I think the tories get near to 400. Theresa May has been dreadful and Corbyn has done better than expected but security of the country will prove to be a huge issue in people's minds and no one bar the Corbyn luvvies will feel he's trustworthy on that issue.

I see a disastrous night for Labour.

380 - she's safe
360 - she's firm
340 - she's shaky
320 - she's toast

Corbyn holding on to what he's got means holding on to what he's got. And he bloodywell deserves it. Hardly a Blairite on the TV in support and he'll have dragged a few of them along with him who initially feared losing their seat, ironically for not supporting him in the first place.

I would very much like to see what, if any, impact the 18-24 turnout makes; how much weight does it provide iyo?

A pretty fair assessment (and question).
