I saw that last night and thought it was a tremendous piece.
But it still doesn't change the fact that I would not trust DA to go to the shops for a pint of milk. |

Thanks for posting, certainly cleared up a few assumptions I made about her. Watching the interviews was uncomfortable viewing.

Really? Electric Avenue was a catchy number.

I loved 'Electric Avenue'
"We gonna rock down to Electric Avenue, and set the place on fire" or something like that. |

Just read that rather lengthy piece about her. If her recent shambolic performances are related to this unspecified illness then she has a reason for her meltdown, but pictures of her at a train station and out voting this morning when she was supposedly unwell, and also suddenly became unwell and didn't vote on article 50 when she seemed ok a few hours before when giving a speech in Westminster.
I don't know about her, seems she can develop a sudden illness and just give herself a sick note when it suits. She can't keep running away when things get too hot for her ! |
|
By:
aah, the old if she's not bedridden or covered in sores then she can't possibly really be ill.
Do you work for the DWP by any chance? |
|
By:
For gods sake she hasn't just had a "bad spell" - she was for many years a weekly contributor to this week, we got to see and hear over a long course of time and many opinions exactly what she was like and how low her intellect was. And it was head in hands awful. It's nothing to do with the colour of her skin.
Such as Chairman Mao "on balance did more good than harm" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uB4o5n2EGyA |

I read in one paper she has a 'serious long-term condition' but no mention of what it was, or maybe it is so serious they haven't even invented it yet. Sorry, being a bit cynical, if she is genuinely unwell, I do wish her all the best, and well done to try and troop on. But her recent interviews and change has been startling, it's obvious something isn't right.

Great news. She's fit and well, able to go out and vote for herself to carry on being an MP, despite, erm, being too ill to be a Cabinet Minister. Not sure how that works, but that's the complex world of Labour politics.
Let's hope she managed to find the right box on the ballot paper. Let's also hope she will soon also be well enough to earn more decent cash on BBC Politics programmes. I'm guessing that day will dawn sooner rather than later. . http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4583948/Diane-Abbott-breaks-cover-vote-General-Election.html |

As always there's a balance.
It seems that she was a bright high achiever when she was young, and she's been an active and passionate MP for many years. She's been to first to achieve lots of things which improve how we function as a society. She should be commended and celebrated for that. But, her performances over the last year or so have been shambolic, suggesting that perhaps she doesn't think she needs to be as industrious as she once was. She's become lazy, and combined with precious few in the labour party who corbyn can trust, has led to her being given a very unsuitable promotion. As for her illness, there are some mutterings that it may be diabetes. You would imagine Type II, as opposed to Theresa May's Type I. She's famed for saying that when she had a different haircut, she had different opinions. I think those defending her performances over this general election would do well to remember that. She may have been outstanding in the past, but if we were to judge her over the last month, she's been completely inadequate. |

I sincerely hope the bespectacled, weightily challenged, ex Shadow Home Secretary, who is better at becoming instantly indisposed than knowing the cost of policing, makes a speedy recovery. In the meantime, here is a nice piece of music to keep her company.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnzHtm1jhL4

I didn't read the link I only got as far as the first F word and abandoned it.
As for Diane she was simply a back bench MP of no consequence, who was thrust into mainstream politics as a token to diversity because she is black and female. She's hit the headlines many times following controversial comments. As mentioned above she's been a regular on This Week and also Question Time, where her limitations when she's speaking without a script were there for everyone to see. Yet she continues to attract attention. She's always come across as sincere and honest to me, which is no substitute for common sense by the way. Certainly not the sharpest tool in the box, but she's making a good living out of whatever it is she's got. Which her critics should note. |
|
By:
so is she back as shadow home secretary now after her election hiccup?
|

By:
On her feet now in Hoc.Had to turn the TV off.

If i was Corbyn, id rather have Bud Abbot or Russ Abbot in my party as oppose to Diane Abbot
|
|
By:
she was paid £800 for appearing on This Week, not bad for an hour's work.
|
|
By:
She's one of those mps great for constituency and helping out for certainly not good to be in a cabinet...
|
|
By:
Was matey with an mp a few years ago, when he showed me his constituency work i couldnt believe how petty it was, sorting out gas & leccy bills etc it basically mirrored what the citizens advice bureau were doing, money for old rope really.within the capabilities of even big diane.

Clearly a wonderful hard working women and a fantastic mum who has served her constituents incredibly well to have been relected so many times, a lot of jealous people of her talents on here obviously, take a closer look in the mirror people and ask yourself what have you done for society more than what she has put in over the years. A credit to society so she is and dare I say, a national icon.
