But on a serious point: Yes, there are people who are fearless and yet so many who are full of fear.
The "me me me" society has never been stronger, when any kind of recognition of fairness and decency have long been obliterated by pure selfishness.
Would they 'have a go' for another human being - society?

Inflation reaching 27%, interest rates at 15% and the pound constantly being devalued.
Not forgetting the winter of discontent where we had to go without power in our offices for 3 days because of unofficial strikes.
Bins not emptied because of strikes. Dead unable to be buried because of strikes. And the Ban the Bomb mob in full throttle.
Going on holiday and you were only allowed to take £50 out of the country.

I've been an employee for the last few years, after being out of the workplace for a long, long time through taking personal responsibility of my family and using all my money up in doing so.
No quarter asked from the government or anyone else.
Before that, I was self-employed for most of my working life.
I'd only ever been employed for about 2 years before I was self-employed.
1. I couldn't believe how much less my tax etc bill was when I did become self-employed.
2. I can't believe how little my deductions are now that I've become PAYE earn again compared to what they were when I first started my working life - when people had a far better decency of life and a brilliant NHS service.
Jeremy Corbyn has it spot on that the only way to be a fair and thoughtful society is for everyone to pay more contributions towards it - and if you think like me (which you obviously don't) - those that earn more pay more.
That's being decent.

I'm a pensioner btw having taken early retirement on a reduced but still not too bad FSSP. I also give by SO to 2 charities every month.

I know what your saying but I think to blame Thatcher is far fetched.
For all her faults I think she did more good for the country than bad overall.
Yes she lacked a heart but did sort out terrible mess the country was in thanks to the communists in control of the unions.

I agree that many of the ills we currently face strem fromt the Thatcher years. She may have done some good but her lasting legacy is the breakdown of society and families, The me me me greed is good culture and the abiltity of suited criminals to get away with it scot free time after time. Remember selling of Council Houses? Well the idea wasn't a bad one but why didn't they build more with the proceeds? One of the biggest problems we as a society face is housing cost.
With regard to have a go heroes it is either in you or not and yes on another day you might do things differently. I'd like to think I would have a go. I'd like to see them try it on where I live. They would need more than just a knife. There would probably be a bigger furore with people fighting each other to get to them!

the worst thing Thatcher ever did was introduce this right to buy nonsense. The housing market bubble is at the root of all our economic problems. pure greed at its worst.

I live within a mile of London Bridge .. Borough market is mainly full of tourists, some of the pubs have a few locals .. it may have been different story a couple of weeks ago .. pubs would have been full of Millwall fans
A thousand years from now, on what the equivalent of chit chat is, there will be a poster from the north blaming Thatcher for all that's wrong with his little world.
