No Afghan thread today???

How much it counts depends on how common it is in any given place.

The general expectation is that this sort of thing happens 2 or 3 times a month in Afghanistan.

Compare how much coverage the Westminster attack , 5 people killed , got ,with all the times 5 or more people would be shot dead in one instance in Northern Ireland in the 70s/80s

A NI massacre with 5 dead would probably but not definitely have lead that evening's news , and within 3 days be largely forgotten.

Of course it doesn't count as much, how could it?

Obviously another  result of our foreign policy.

In my naivety I thought the debate would intensify regarding the impact Islam is having on the world...

Since Manchester we've had countless politicians/media/public falling over themselves to to excuse Islam. In up to 50 countries attacks are occuring. I would say we have a problem Houston...

It's the Fawlty Towers "don't mention the war" strategy.

they were foreign Brown people - they obviously don't matter.
You get ten for One UK Citizen on the people exchange.
This might get a mention tomorrow on news, then forgotten.
unlike Manchester which will rumble on for years.

I am tired of seeing religion in the eyes of killers.

It was here in the news that a batch of German soldiers' departure was delayed because the diplomatic staff in Kabul had more pressing matters to attend to.

What i still dont get is, why our we still involved in a war that is never going to be won. And where do western nations find these idiots ready to serve in far away lands? Apparently there are many and still can't think for themselves :/

They would begin not to Count here if they were weekly Events .. Lets hope we are not heading in the Same direction ..

Baghdad: 7 killed in four separate bombings.
Hit: 6 by suicide bomber at checkpoint.
Hawija: 10 executed.
Baaj: 12 executed.
Muqdadiya: 3 killed by IED outside mosque.
Monday 29 May : 39 killed
Baghdad: 31 by car bombs.
Shirqat: 6 (inc 4 children) by missiles, drone strike.
Aziziyah: 1 by IED.
Tuz Khurmato: 1 by gunfire.

As for no thread, the bomb was thousands of miles away from Europe. As i often say, until the war comes home, no one bothers. And when it does come home, every one starts creating threads whining about it. happened during manchester and will happen again when the next one hits.

What were German soldiers doing over there anyway?

The same that the british and americans do.

By departure i mean departure from Germany to Afg. So they are going to be deployed there.

Probably the official word is peacekeepers.
