She's been a on a few on my Spotify playlists at times so I probably know her stuff better than most on here....watching the video and listening to this song now feels very sad and poignant.

I literally had never heard her name before either, but she has over 100 million followers on social media so maybe I need to watch more TV, her music is for kids though from what I've heard.

She's one of those ex Disney kids....biggest and first it was "Problem" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS1g8G_njx8 - would be surprised if you haven't heard this as was a big hit at the time...not a fan of that song myself.
She had a big video hit with "Break Free" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8eRzOYhLuw - her imo best song. You'd have noticed her gay following, well she got that of the back of this song (obvious lyrics and no, I'm not gay). "One last Time" was kind of a sleeper hit...i.e. wasn't big at the time but has become probably her most notorious and played song...and will definitely be now. She is credited with having a "good" voice with many references to Mariah....whilst exaggerated, she can sing a lot better than other artists of this type. |

She rose to fame on a US show called "Victorious" where she was one of a group of friends at a school for performing arts, she played an extremely dumb character (think Kirk from corrie but cuter
 )It was Victoria Justice, the star of the show who was the one from the cast that was expected to go on to world wide fame but Grande has been the one who has ultimately achieved that feat with Victoria Justice certainly outside of the US at any rate largely forgotten.
